ARCHIVED Wonder Why You May Be Reacting To Some Wines?
majicbunnies replied to Mike M's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That's weird because the frey's wine you reacted to should have been gluten free because it's aged on oak, not in. And the stuff you don't react to says it's aged in oak barrels, so if you were to react to anything, it would be the Coturri. hmm -

Which Frey wine did you have a reaction to? And which wine do you drink without a problem? -
ARCHIVED Wonder Why You May Be Reacting To Some Wines?
majicbunnies replied to Mike M's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The first time I called, she said the wines were gluten free and were aged in steel barrels. Then I was on their website and saw that the statement for certain wines said that they were aged 'in' oak, meaning in oak barrels. Then I called back and asked about that and she confirmed not all were made in steel barrels. ..I don't know why she didn't tell me... -
ARCHIVED Trader Joe's Banana Waffles
majicbunnies replied to wschmucks's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hey, I don't know if some one has mentioned this or not, but TJ's doesn't label gluten free. Their 'gluten free' label only states that there are no gluten INGREDIENTS. -
If you look at the legend for their labeling marks, you will see that their 'gluten free' mark is not described as labeling something gluten free. It simply says: 'contains no gluten ingredients'. This way, they can slap that label on without risking anything from consumers if their product contains gluten from CC, since the ingredients themselves are considered...

ARCHIVED Wonder Why You May Be Reacting To Some Wines?
majicbunnies replied to Mike M's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just talked to a woman at Frey wines and she said that some of their wines are aged in oak barrels which most likely will have a wheat paste, and some wines are aged in steel barrels and are safe. Their website will state weather each wine is aged 'in' oak barrels or 'on' oak, which means they fill a mesh bag with oak and submerge it in the steel barrel... -

I have been gluten free for about five years now. About two weeks ago, I got an itchy bump on my neck. The next day or so later there were more in the same area. Now I have them grouped near my knee, back of the thigh, near my left hip/buttocks, and last night i started breaking out on my forearm. This is so frustrating!! It's confusing because one girl...

I just got off the phone with them and the man I spoke to said their Brie is gluten free, and the vinegar they use is corn based. -
ARCHIVED Is Items With Alchohl That Say Gluten Free Really gluten-free?
majicbunnies replied to rmducote's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
What about that article I saw saying that scientists won't claim gluten free on all distilled alcohol/vinegar because not all distillation processes eliminate gluten all of the time. Sorry I can't link you to it.. Maybe you've heard this or read about it? -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Irregular Menstrual Cycles
majicbunnies replied to MissDigital's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I started my period at a young age, but it's hard to tell because I only had a few every year for about three years. Then they were 3-6/year, and now.. I'm 19 now, and my last period was in June. It's september now, and I haven't started yet. Most of my friends are guys, and I only seem to get my period when I hang out around a girl for about a week, or sooner... -
ARCHIVED Kind Bars
majicbunnies replied to pinkpei77's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
this is an old post but.. I used to eat the Kind fruit and nut bars all the time and didn't get sick. Yesterday I had one KIND fruit and nut with yougurt bar, and I felt nausea afterward. This morning I had two, and I feel like I'm dying. My stomach is in knots and I had to throw up. UGH! Make it go awayyyy! I don't know if it's gluten, because there are... -

ARCHIVED Turtle Mountain
majicbunnies posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just wanted to say that about a year ago I had called Turtle Mountain about their vanilla extract because I got sick after eating the Cookie Dough Ice Cream. I was told that it's extracted from grain. I don't know if she meant the alcohol in the vanilla, or what... Just throwing this out there. -
ARCHIVED Is Backpacking Possible?
majicbunnies replied to majicbunnies's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
=) I'm worried about cheeses. I have come across cheese with vinegar in it/distilled vinegar. Also, I'm slightly lactose intolerant so I can't handle too much cheese/milk. -
I am 19, and very sensitive to gluten. I realllly would like to travel someday. I would like to backpack around Europe, Mexico, wherever really. I'm worried about how I would eat though. Most of what I eat now are: Veggies, Fruits Microwaved or baked food (either covered in the microwave, or baked in my own toaster oven, or covered in foil in someone...

ARCHIVED Ugh! England Labeling Frustrations
majicbunnies replied to majicbunnies's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I just want so badly to have people realize that gluten free should mean ZERO amounts of gluten in a product! Like I said, just because the majority of Celiacs aren't as sensitive, it doesn't mean their bodies aren't being affected when they don't get physical symptoms from ingesting gluten. Right now I am in living in southern california. I just... -

ARCHIVED Ugh! England Labeling Frustrations
majicbunnies posted a topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I have been thinking about moving to England after college. BUT, I think I've changed my mind. I just read up on their labeling laws (Open Original Shared Link) and just because the 'majority' of Celiacs don't react to a certain level doesn't mean that it's not affecting their body, and you should allow gluten at all in something that is supposed to be 'gluten... -

ARCHIVED Healthy Vs. Replacement
majicbunnies replied to majicbunnies's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
very interesting. I'm trying to get into cooking more so that I have more options. A friend came over a few times and we made an eggplant dish that was delicious. I'm pretty sure that was the first time I'd had eggplant! -
Before I was diagnosed as being gluten intolerant, I used to eat very crappy, unhealthy foods. I was over weight, too. When I went gluten free, I was eating more of the crappy/unhealthy gluten free foods. Like cookies and candies and things. That was the staple in my diet, haha. Now I'm more aware of things I eat and nutrients I need to feel my best and eat...

ARCHIVED Azna Gluten Free...gluten-free?
majicbunnies posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was just wondering if anyone else has gotten sick from any Azna Gluten Free products. I had the brownies and didn't get a reaction, but when I ate the cinnamon rolls and blueberry scones, I got sick. I don't think it's the soy, because I eat other things with soy and I don't get a reaction. I gave the rest of the scones to my family after getting sick from...
