  1. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  2. My husband (non-celiac) had similar symptoms (really bad D, then pain and bloating with the D getting less bad but not stopping) a few months ago. He thought he'd been poisoned at a restaurant but it lasted for way too long. Finally one of the guys he worked with had him try a Prilosec and it seemed to help. Now he takes one every day to keep the symptoms...
  3. Wow, he is very thin. I think this is a symptom of celiac disease, the more experienced members would be able to confirm this. In one of the books (Gluten-free Cooking for Dummies) she talks about her son looking like a starving baby even though he ate and it was due to the malabsorption caused by his gluten intolerance (leaky gut). My son, who is an undiagnosed...
  4. As for restaurants...PF Changs if you want to make the trip into Spokane. Applebees and Red Robin will print out special menu suggestions, and I've had pretty good luck just ordering meat grilled with veggies on the side. Nothing breaded or deep fried (deep fryers seem to be able to spread the gluten) Salads are usually good as long as you remember to go...
  5. Michelle, Welcome and don't panic. I'm in Lewiston and have found some interesting places to shop and dine out in our areas. Rosauers has the BEST section of foods for us in their "Huckleberries" sections. I'm all for eating basic diet foods until feeling better, but it is a bit frustrating at first! So try to feed him well but have snacks to nibble...
  6. They are all really young and this was their first Olympics. I think the fact that none of them made the individual competition took some wind out of their sails though.
  7. Mirabella, You can absolutely have stress in your subconcious. Any unfinished projects, little irritations, chronic aggrivations, all sorts of things can add a little layer of stress to your body and mind. These stresses can cause depression (fatigue is a common side effect of depression), anger, mood swings, and many other issues. I always think about...
  8. I'm glad I'm not the only one watching. It seems like it's not as important as it was when I was a kid. The morning radio show I was listening to didn't even know how many medals Micheal Phelps had won and whether they were this years or last or all together. I realize that this probably means they have a busy life but, sheesh, this is the OLYMPICS. The best...
  9. Because I don't like dairy milk and the phytoestragens in soy do a whammy on my PMS I have been drinking Rice Dream. After I read the previous messages I became concerned that I might be glutenating myself (again ) so I emailed Rice Dream Saturday and this was the reply I got this morning, "Thank you for taking the time to contact us regarding our...
  10. I love the Olympics!! Go Micheal Phelps and my hero..Dara Torres. Can you believe a 41 year old woman can look so great?
  11. Sorry, I'm embarrassed. I'm trying to figure this website out and am still having trouble catching on to where everything leads. It's too bad you didn't get better, I hope you figure it out.
  12. What a revelation!! I feel pretty dumb too. A vet told me that dogs are frequently intolerant to corn so I spent hours looking for really high quality dog food that didn't have corn in it...and yet I continued to eat it. Now that you mention it it does seem logical that we omnivores aren't dealing with domesticated grains any better than our domesticated...
  13. Like everyone else has said, if it feels good --do it! From what I've read one indicator blood test (Total serum IgA) gives false negatives because the person getting tested can be deficient to start with so an elevated reading actually comes out looking normal. Be sure you doc is running all five tests on your blood, they are- tTG-Iga, EMA-IgA, AGA-IgA...
  14. I have occassional missed beats, and then thumping to catch up, especially when I lay down at night. It is scary. I've also had episodes where my heart beats out of control. Once I had to call the EMTs and they had me at about 230 beats per minute without being able to convert it back, so they used a med to stop my heart for a few seconds. When I went to...
  15. The Expanded GI test I got from my LPN tested for these things along with a bunch of other things. It wasn't very pretty, I had to catch poo and put samples in a vial, twice, but man, did it test for stuff. Fungi & yeast, Parasites & ova, Biotic type bacteria-pro and bad, giardia, Crptosporidium, Toxoplasma, Ameba, H-Pylori, Lysozyme, Anti-Chymotrypsin...
  16. So you were tested for lactose intolerance but not gluten intolerance? I started having similar symptoms when I was pregnant with my second child. Absolutely everything gave me heartburn. After he was born I thought the stuff would go away but it didn't, and hasn't 17 years later. I couldn't eat at a restaurant without finding a bathroom within 10 minutes...
  17. I read this post with hope. I have been gluten-free for about a month and at first I felt energetic and alive, zip--zoom, now I need a nap every day to get through. I had to quit my vitamins because they had de-fatted wheat germ in them (company says they're gluten-free, but I'm afraid to chance it) and I've tried some others but they didn't keep my energy...
  18. Being recently diagnosed and a chronic drive-through-for-something-quick person I just checked all the fast food places around my town (Jack in the Box, McD's, Arbys, KFC, Taco Time, Subway) and was shocked at the total lack of gluten-free options at TB. What was even worse was the gluten in the fries (or potatos) at many places including TB. I had hoped...
  19. I want to see posts in date order, newest to oldest, so I can join some conversations but I can't figure out how. Some topics have hundreds, if not thousands, of threads with new and old all mixed together. How do I change my view so I can figure out if topics is still open and active?

    ARCHIVED Headaches

Your profile and your name don't really specify a gender so I'll pass on my migraine problems and what I do to help. Some of my migraines are because I was in a carwreck about 25 years ago (that started them) and the only relief I've found is regular Chiropractic adjustments. Another reason I get migraines is related to hormomal shifts during my monthly cycle...
  21. I came to this site to see if inhaling flour could make me feel bad- I'm new to this celiac thing but feeling better- and this topic jumped out at me. My mother, myself and my son have always had terrible breath. I had my tonsils out and that seemed to help but when my son had his out it didn't help him at all. Even the breath from his nose smells really...
