  1. Hello GFAl, Ive been reading an old post about the abdominal pain you were experiencing at night time.

My daughter has recently been diagnosed as Celiac and is suffering with the same pain at night. Did you ever find out how to control this? She is already on the diet and was ok for a few months but recently had a stomach bug and is up every night again.

Any advice you can give please?

  2. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  3. Does anyone know if these are gluten free? The ingredients contain starch and because wheat wasn't specified, I bought them. Then I looked more closely at the package and saw that they are made on some kibbutz in Israel. Do the FDA regulations apply to these? Has anyone contacted the company? I've emailed them, but I'm still waiting for a response...
  4. luvs2eat, do you freeze the bread and take it out as needed, or does it keep if you leave it out for the week??
  5. Truly
  6. I saw this on tv too! I can't stand watching Dan Eaton, but this recipe caught my attention - glad to hear it came out good! I'm looking for a dessert to make for Valentine's Day, so maybe I'll give this a try. Thanks for reminding me!! Where to you live? I'm in Ithaca.
  7. Do any of the hostels have kitchens? I've stayed at some truly horrid hostels, but I've also stayed at a few that had really nice, really well equipped kitchens, and I convinced my hubby (well, then boyfriend) to cook some meals ourselves. That cuts down on my anxiety A LOT and usually winds up being cheaper! I unfortunately don't have any more specific...
  8. I don't want to discount anything necessarily, however I would think that the honey would be fine. Regular ol' honey could potentially come from a hive located close to a wheat field as well, and heating or processing it wouldn't do anything to destroy the gluten. So if raw honey is a potential source of CC, so would regular honey. And peanut butter when...
  9. Just my .02 - many on the board here say that they get depressed when they accidentally consume gluten, or that their depression lifted when they went gluten free. Most kids who are depressed look irritable and whiny rather than having the typical symptoms we associate with depression in adults. If this is a relatively new behavior, and there have been...
  10. A-m-a-z-o-n still has them! http://www.(Company Name Removed - They Spammed This Forum and are Banned)/Clif-Bar-Nectar-Orga...841&sr=8-35 unfortunately, you have to pay a boatload in shipping for your particular flavor...
  11. Shoot! The lemon-vanilla-cashew ones were my favorite! The regular Clif bars have oats, but the nectar bars are just fruits and nuts and are soooooo yummy!!! I actually like them better than Larabars. Shoot!
  12. I finally found the Honey Kix in my middle-of-nowhere town and promptly ate two bowls. And promptly got sick - super bloated tummy, couldn't keep my eyes open, weepy, etc. So while they were tasty and it would be really nice to be able to buy a mainstream cereal, it's really just not worth it to me. Sigh - guess I have to come up with a different way...
  13. Just an FYI, glucose is sugar, not gluten. I have no idea if Rockstar energy drinks are safe or not, but glucose shouldn't be a problematic ingredient unless you are also diabetic.
  14. I just found a new cereal at Wegmans - it's from Nature's Path and it's called Whole O's. Not exactly like Cheerios, but in my opinion WAY better than Perky O's! Just thought I'd share in case others haven't seen it yet!
  15. Ravenwoodglass, where do you live??
  16. gluten-free-Jen, I know this post is pretty old, but I'm moving to Ithaca this weekend! Do you still live there? Any success finding anyone else??
  17. It may be worthwhile to ask your doctor about doing them yourself at home. I was only paying $40 each time I got one done, but I was also driving an hour and a half away to see the doctor (when gas was $4/gallon) - so it was adding up quickly. And it was difficult to get all of the time off of work to go weekly. It was actually my doctor's idea to do...
  18. I give myself bladder intillations regularly, and they are the ONLY thing that has helped my Interstitial Cystitis to any real degree. Avoiding things like tomatoes and chocolate certainly doesn't hurt, but the instillations actually make my bladder feel good!! I use a cocktail of 20mL Lidocaine and 10,000 units Heparin. At first the catheterization hurt...
  19. Have you tried it yet? I'm curious how your experiment turned out!
  20. Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried this using buckwheat flour? This bread was delicious when I made it with garbanzo flour, however being intolerant of legumes, I bloated up like a balloon after eating it! I don't particularly care for the taste of sorghum and was thinking of using 1 cup rice flour and 1/2 cup buckwheat flour in place of 1 1/...
  21. I would watch out for pre-seasoned (or "pumped") corned beef and season your own. Then you'll definitely be safe
  22. Ok. Here's the condensed version of my story. Had stomach problems for years, namely pain and bloating and what felt an awful lot like menstrual cramps, only they happened throughout the month. Also prone to constipation. In the absence of other obvious problems, I had a doctor recommend to me about 2 years ago that maybe I had a problem with wheat. Blood...
  23. Or caffeine.
  24. Are any of those brands soy free as well?
  25. I know which drinks at Starbucks are gluten free, but I'm wondering if anyone knows if the flavor shots, syrups, whipped cream, etc. are SOY free. Thanks!
