So...my husband and I have been thinking about buying some land and becoming self-sufficent. :o

We've been looking at various properties since last fall and trying to decide what to do. We finally made an offer on an 80-acre property a few weeks ago. Our offer was rejected, so we thought, "Well, it just wasn't meant to be." But the owners of the property e-mailed us just a couple of days ago telling us they changed their mind and will now take our offer. So now we're in a quandary. What to do, what to do. It was easier when our offer was rejected, so the pressure was off.

Right now my husband is working day and night on writing a brief to submit to the Supreme Court and he can't be distracted with the land deal. When he gets done with the brief, we're going to go look at one more property that a friend brought to our attention lately. If we don't like that one, we'll probably go ahead and make the deal on the first property.

It's a scary thing. A lot of work. A new life that I'm not sure I want. :(

The reason we're even considering it is because we think there is going to be a big economic crash. We don't want to be in the city when/if that happens and we don't want to be among those jostling around behind a Red Cross truck waiting for our rations. If it weren't for that, I think the life I'd like to live is to sell our house and move into a flat...like an old warehouse building that has been turned into lofts.

Oh well, we'll see.
