  1. Hello all, my tests for celiac came back negative. I told my doctor that my symptoms had disappeared since Id been gluten free - i had not had one stomach pain in 4 weeks (usually was an almost daily occurance) so anyway, he advised me to carry on for another month then eat something with gluten. On Sunday just gone (today is thursday) i had a piece of my sons birthday cake. A day later i ate half a sausage roll - no symptoms....until last night when I had the beginnings of the low down pain i feel with constipation and trapped wind. My question is - would it take this long for the symptoms to show? Since i went gluten free ive been going to the toilet normally, every day, yet this week, since i ate the cake - i havent. Thankyou.
  2. Thankyou both for your replies. I've just phoned the doctors and my H. pylori results are in but the doctor hasn't read them yet so they can't tell me!! Grrrr....it's frustrating! I will certainly consider trying gluten again after a few months if I continue to improve! Just the once mind!
  3. I am still waiting for my blood test results for celiac (and H.pylori) All my other results for liver function, thyroid and full blood count have come back as negative. I'm hoping the rest will be in tomorrow. Anyway, I thought i'd post to say that I've been gluten free for 10 days now and in the past few days my brain fog has definitely lifted. I've suffered what I put down as anxiety but this forum has led me to research brain fog and it's been a revelation! My head feels clear for once! It's a fantastic feeling and i've also tons more energy. I have no idea whether or not i have celiac at this moment but ive no doubt now that i do have some kind of food intollerance. I was wondering if it could just be wheat? Could I be tested for this if my celiac test is negative? Maybe i just need to cut out the wheat? Im quite happy to continue eating gluten free whatever happens! I'm not a big bread eater anyway and i can live without pasta and processed foods anyway. Oh well - I'm feeling tons better and that is the main thing diagnosis or not!
  4. I suspect i have celiac (waiting blood test results) partly because of the rash i get along with stomach trouble. What i wanted to know is, i get a rash a few times a year (usually symmetrical) but it is usually on the front of my thighs. It starts off a few little red bumps and although i limit my scratching, it gradually grows to about 3/4 inches in diameter. Also it tends to form a circle with the bumps being on the perimeter of the rash - the rest (the middle) is just red/purply in colour. The 'circle' gets bigger over a few days until it eventually fades away after a few weeks to return a few months later. Can anyone relate to this?
  5. Does going gluten free mean i will automatically be wheat free too? I'm learning
  6. So should I expect to get some symptoms (painful bloating and constipation are my worst ones) for some time yet? I shouldn't be surprised to get these symptoms even being gluten free, for a certain time? I was just wondering as I might think I've not got a gluten allergy if the symptoms persist while gluten free. Thankyou.
  7. Lindsey: Good luck with your testing on Wednesday. If we can help you in any way, just ask,
  8. Thankyou both very much for your repiles - I totally agree with that and I will stick with the gluten free. I'll still have the test and take it from there. Thankyou.
  9. I'm 39 and I've suffered stomach pains, wind, bloating, constipation, itchy skin rash, anxiety, foggy head, nervousness and depression for years now (getting progressively worse) I'd given up with doctors until last week when I tried once more.....he is sending me for a coeliac screen which I'd never heard of so I looked it up. What a revelation! The symetrical skin rash really clinched it! I at last have a answer to this problem that has been litterally ruining my life! Today is Monday and my blood test isn't until Wednesday morning but I've already cut out the gluten. I've read that I shouldn't do this as my blood tests won't show it if I have it? It's hard to make myself eat gluten now as I've not had any symptoms for 2 days now! I could do with the help from a dietician though and I don't suppose I'll get that if I don't test positive? I'm in the UK by the way... How important do you think it is to get a proper diagnosis - I'm sure you can tell by my post that it's fairly obvious that I have coeliac. I suppose I could manage a few bits of bread between now and Wednesday, but what about after that? Will I have to go for other tests and still be eating gluten? I don't want to eat it for a day longer than I have to if I can avoid it.
