  2. I miss granola so badly! I was wondering if anyone had a recipe that was similar or anything that resembles granola? Thank you!
  3. my son is 5 months old and I want to start soilds next month however I am in conflict what i should start him on. I want him to stay gluten-free until he's two or so and I'm making my own baby food. However I don't know if I should start him on rice or fruits first. I would like your thoughts, which is easier to digest? Besides the fact that fruits are sweeter than anything else is that the only reason that they say start rice first? Thanks
  4. Thanks Janet I did have a level 2 ultrasound and they checked all the things you said above; he had no problems except what I said in my orginal post. Thanks for the idea about the DS support group.
  5. I am just wondering if anyone else is having trouble gaining weight while pregnant. I am 20 weeks and have gained 4lbs. I didn't lose any weight in the beginning and I feel like I'm eating a lot of food. I'm not holding back in my eating thats for sure. My doctor isn't worried but I was just wondering if anyone else is gaining slowly? Thanks
  6. About three weeks ago I had the AFP test (or the triple screen test), which tests for spina bifida, trisomy 18 (Edwards Syndrome) and trisomy 21 (Down Syndrome). I only had this test done because if something is wrong I wanted to be at the same hospital as my baby and the local where I live can't handle special cases. All that to say the test came back abnormal. My odds were 1 in 124. I'm only 22 and this is my first pregnancy (we are having a boy). I had a ultra sound and the only things they found were his arms (17 weeks) and legs (18 weeks) were behind his head growth (19 weeks). They also found a pocket of fluid in his brain. They said all these things were indicators of down syndrome, however if my blood test had come back normal they wouldn't have thought twice about the things they found. Also, I am 5' 5" and my husband is 5' 4" and his side of the family is all under 5' 8". The doctors said it could also mean that our baby is just going to be short, but they could say for sure. We aren't getting anymore tests done. I write all this to see if anyone else has gone through this and if anyone knows if down syndrome is all related to celiac disease? Thank you all:-)
  7. Roll Call?

I am 7 1/2 weeks pregnant with my first. My husband and I are very excited (though truth be told I think he is more excited than I am right now, I'm just trying not to throw up everywhere ) I'm due April 4, 2008
  8. Preggie Pops

I am 71/2 weeks pregnant and I need some relief all this morning sickness. Lots of people have said try preggie pops. However I haven't been able to find them or if they are gluten free? Any ideas, thanks
  9. I'm not pregnant yet but would like to be in the next two months (hopefully ) and I am wondering if I can take antioxidant supplements, amino acid supplements and probiotics? THey are all gluten free and are keeping me so healthy. I'm afraid if I stop taking them all my old problems will come back but I'm not sure if I can take them while pregnant. Does anyone know? Or have any ideas? Thanks
  10. I read somewhere that celiac disease can suddenly show up if you experiance lots of stress or have something traumatic happen in your life. Has anyone else heard this? Is it true? Can it lay dormant and then just show up?
  11. I got married last June, it was a really small wedding but we served lots of veggies and fruit, also some cheese, meat and crackers. It wasn't totally gluten-free and I'm kinda glad, because I was so excited, that all I ate was gluten-free cake (which turned out amazing). It will all come together, best of luck!
  12. Constipation

I don't if its different for kids, but it took me about 3 months.
  13. I just wanted to say I totally understand your problem with MI doctors, I lived there for 2 1/2 years and the doctors did nothing for me. They sent me all over the place and had me doing stool samples, getting a colonoscopy and then told me all I had was IBS. They wanted to put me on a bowl relaxer and medimucil, I was so mad! All I wanted was a clear answer, did I have celiac disease or not. Never got one, so I went gluten-free anyway and I've never felt better. Best of luck to you, it sounds like the "big city" doctors is where you want to be.
  14. Ok, so I've put on a little weight since getting married and in order to wear my bikini this summer I've been doing the South Beach diet. I have found it ok during the first 2 weeks of phase one but once I get into phase two I become frustrated. I can't eat whole grains (other than brown rice), so there goes the "healthy whole grains" idea of phase two. If I want to have a sandwich I use corn torillas but corn isn't on the recomended list of ok foods. Is anyone else doing this diet? Do you have any tips?
  15. ok, I need some help. I need a good prenatal vitamin that is gluten free but I haven't found one yet. What do you all take? Thanks
