ARCHIVED Best gluten-free Pizza Crust Recipe!
Emily Elizabeth posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
A friend of mine recently made this for me and then I made it myself to be sure I could duplicate it. My friend bought me the recommended flour mix, so I would start with using that the first time you make it to ensure you get the right texture. It's the best yet in my opinion! Here is the link to the step by step instructions: Open Original Shared... -

Emily Elizabeth posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi Everyone, I thought I would post this to save others the time of emailing the company. WILTON: Good Afternoon, Thank you for getting back to us. Unfortunately, we do not get information on the different lines that the items are run on. We do follow proper cleaning procedures though, and so if any lines need to be switched over, they are cleaned... -

ARCHIVED Advice For A New Mom?
Emily Elizabeth posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi everyone, I'm due on April 8th and of course don't know if my daughter will have Celiac Disease or not. Of course I'm not eating gluten now, and I was told not to feed her gluten until she is at least a year old in hopes of preventing celiac disease. Do any of you have any additional advice? Thanks! ARCHIVED Good Eye Moisturizer That Is gluten-free?
Emily Elizabeth posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone has found a good eye moisturizer that is gluten-free. One that can be used under the eyes for puffiness and/or over the eyelids. I used to use a make-up base coat sort of thing for putting under eye shadow from Clinique, but now they don't carry it anymore and I've got nothing. Any suggestions would be most appreciated... -
ARCHIVED I'M Healthy Now, Should I Still See A Gi Doctor Every Year?
Emily Elizabeth posted a topic in Doctors
Hi everyone, I was told at one point that I should see a GI doctor once a year as a "check-up" to make sure everything is going okay. Do any of you do this? I have just been having my regular doctor do a blood test annually to make sure my antibody levels are in the normal range. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks, Emily -

ARCHIVED Hard Times Cafe - Gluten Free Chili (supposedly)
Emily Elizabeth posted a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Hi everyone, I just contacted Hard Times Cafe and they said their chili is gluten free. Here is the response: Sent: Wednesday, September 09, 2009 1:29 PM <<Hi Emily - Yes the chilies are gluten free but you would not want to have the chili on the spaghetti. The chili on Fritos would be OK. Unfortunately our corn bread is made with wheat flour... -
ARCHIVED Survey- How Long After Going Gluten Free Did You Get Pregnant?
Emily Elizabeth replied to terribeth07's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi, I waited two years after going gluten free before getting pregnant. My periods are pretty regular (25-28 days) with the occasional really long cycle (35-42 days). I did a blood test to ensure my antibodies were in the normal range first. Once they were, the doctor said I should be just fine. We got pregnant on the second cycle of trying. Best of luck... -

ARCHIVED Processed On Lines That Use...
Emily Elizabeth replied to Juliebove's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That really bugs me too! To me it's like writing, "Processed in a facility that also processes rat poisoning. If you're sensitive, then you may get sick." I have gotten sick before after eating something labeled as "processed in a facility that also processes wheat" and won't do it again. Best, Emily -
ARCHIVED Eating Out: Finally Having Success!
Emily Elizabeth posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just wanted to share my experiences of eating out lately without getting sick. Chipotle: I went to Chipotle and had their chicken burrito bowl with guacamole and chips. I tried to ask the server to change her gloves as others have recommended, but she couldn't understand me (language gap) and everything still turned out great! I didn't get sick and... -

ARCHIVED The Celiac Belly
Emily Elizabeth replied to Emily Elizabeth's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I'm not too sure. I do remember always having a very round belly when I was young (always there). It bothered me and my mom just said that it was normal for kids. Now that I think about it, I wonder if it was due to celiac. I was very thin, but had a bigger belly. I remember laying down in the tub and my belly would stick out of the water like a mountain... -
I'm glad to hear you had a good experience! I eat at Carraba's frequently and always have a nice relaxing time (usually eating out is stressful for me). They actually have special gluten free menus and the servers are knowledgable.

ARCHIVED The Celiac Belly
Emily Elizabeth replied to Emily Elizabeth's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
It seems like you're eating healthy, the only thing that I would suggest is that you not eat after about 5pm at the latest. Though it doesn't explain the weekend bloat, it could help with the weight gain. I was eating very healthy and gaining weight and bloating horribly until I stopped eating after 5pm (I also get up at 4:30am). I figured since I was starting... -
ARCHIVED The Celiac Belly
Emily Elizabeth replied to Emily Elizabeth's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Can you think of anything you do differently on the weekends? Like drink wine/alcohol, coffee, eat something different for breakfast or even eat later at night? I go through a similar cycle of bloating up after the weekend, but I'm pretty sure it is because I consume a lot more food and I eat later at night , which I don't do during the week. I'm working... -
