ARCHIVED Cyclical Vomiting, Proctaearslgia Fugax- After Being gluten-free For 3 Years
anniebeth replied to anniebeth's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My husband said he thought that might be the case. Just don't know where it could be coming from. And unfortunately, yes, there are plenty of disorders that are associated with celiac. I was just hoping that being gluten free would keep them from occurring. -
ARCHIVED Cyclical Vomiting, Proctaearslgia Fugax- After Being gluten-free For 3 Years
anniebeth posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have been gluten-free for 3 years. I also eat a whole foods diet that includes lots of probiotic foods, no grains, etc. I am healthier than I have ever been. The only problem is that in the past year I have had a couple months where I've had episodes of what seems like cyclical vomiting. I also have been suffering from proctalgia fugax (rectal spasms) about... -
The problem with that, is that they have also been gluten free for two years as well. My daughter was the reason we went gluten-free in the first place. She was failure to thrive, had severe reflux, her toenails were growing funky, etc. and they tested her for cystic fibrosis and all sorts of things. The doctor finally did the blood test for celiac and...

Is there a doctor that will diagnose celiac based on genetic testing and health history? I am a DQ8 DQ8 and have had every celiac symptom in the book. I have been gluten-free for 2 years and absolutely refuse to start eating gluten again to get testing done. In fact, I'm not even sure after 2 years of healing, if the results would even be accurate from...

ARCHIVED Geographic Tongue/being Sick
anniebeth posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi. I have what I consider a geographic tongue, although I'd never heard of it before celiac. I've always had either what looks like cracks in my tongue, or prominant taste bud looking things, and/or a white, fuzzy coating. I had never seen my tongue look pink until I went gluten free. The thing is, I also went dairy free and ditched refined sugar. Now... -
When I was in elementary school, I had a problem with my heel. From what I remember, the cartilage on the bottom was loose, and when I walked it would rub against the bone. I had to limit activity and try not to run on hard surfaces for a while. Does anyone know what this was and if it was related to celiac at all?

My daughter and I both have celiac. My husband does not. We all went to the mall Saturday night, and ended up eating at the food court- something I try to avoid. I usually look up menus when dining out, but we didn't have that option, and the food court employees aren't very knowledgeable about the food. Anyway, all three of us ate some Bourbon Chicken...

Since going gluten free, my poop actually got softer. Before gluten-free it was either diarrhea or constipation. Now it is always soft. I also went dairy free over a week ago. Since then I am pooping after every meal and in the morning. It is not diarrhea, but it is very soft poo. I thought frequent pooping was a sign of celiac. I should be pooping...

I'm an O- but I've never heard that theory before. Strangely enough, my daughter (don't know her type, but would be willing to bet it's O) is intolerant to both dairy and oranges.

ARCHIVED Breast Tenderness?
anniebeth replied to queenofhearts's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I know this is an old thread, but I think it answers a question that I just posted earlier this morning. I have been having breast tenderness and fullness recently, and was wondering if it had to do with going off gluten or dairy. The strange thing is, it is mostly just one of my breasts. I actually wish they would have this problem evenly, because they... -
ARCHIVED Don't Understand Dairy/estrogen/soy
anniebeth replied to anniebeth's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I just found this old thread that may answer my question. Looks like going gluten free causes breast tenderness for some people... https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.ph...aded&start= -
ARCHIVED Don't Understand Dairy/estrogen/soy
anniebeth posted a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
So I've been mostly gluten free since November, and completely gluten free for the past couple months. Earlier this week I decided to cut out dairy as well, since my daughter is intolerant to dairy, and I really feel I have an addiction to it. Since going gluten free, I experienced much better periods- less pain and cramping, more regular cycle, etc. This... -
ARCHIVED Help With Numbers
anniebeth replied to anniebeth's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'd like to add that I can't find any one else who has the same number scale, so I don't know how to really compare these. -
ARCHIVED Help With Numbers
anniebeth posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The other day I was at the allergy doctor with my son. He has spells of asthma, and we were getting RAST tests done. He didn't react to a thing except mold. Knowing that he has at least one DQ8 gene (since I am DQ8/DQ8), problems with constipation, discolorations on his teeth, and just started seeing a counselor for anxiety, I asked the Dr. if we could... -

ARCHIVED Deodorant Debate
anniebeth posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've read the deodorant debate. Unless you lick your deodorant, why bother finding a gluten free one. However, if you shave under your arms and nick or cause abrasions, couldn't it enter your bloodstream? -
ARCHIVED Just Diagnosed- But Untraditionally. Need Validation.
anniebeth posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have had multiple health problems my entire life, but just recently realized they were all symptoms of celiac. My daughter Emily (who is about to turn 2) had reflux and severe diarrhea, as well as growth problems. Months ago her pediatrician thought she had celiac, but the blood test at that age is so controversial that we knew it probably wouldn't be accurate... -
ARCHIVED Confused About Dq8
anniebeth replied to anniebeth's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I just talked to the counselor again. I am homozygous for DQ8. This increases risk from what I understand. -
ARCHIVED Confused About Dq8
anniebeth posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I was just on the phone with Kimball labs. I was positive for DQB1 0302., which is DQ8. I asked what my other DQ number was (because I keep hearing people say- I was DQ8 and DQ2 or I was DQ8 and DQ6 or whatever). However, her only answer was that the DQ8 beta was so close to the alpha that they just say DQ8 positive. Does that mean I am DQ8 DQ8? Is that... -
ARCHIVED Genetic Testing From Kimball Labs
anniebeth posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
A while back I posted about my daughter having chronic diarrhea. She was given the blood test for celiac, but it came back negative. We dismissed that as a possibility, but after doing some research on the inaccuracy of testing on young children (she was 1) I decided to just take her off of gluten to see if it helped. Over the next couple of days her diarrhea... -
ARCHIVED Husband Wants Me To Go Gluten Free Without Testing
anniebeth posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Here's the dilemma. I actually am already gluten free. I had been cheating a little over the past couple of months because the diet was really for my daughter. She is 21 months old and had been experiencing chronic diarrhea almost her entire life until we took away gluten. Within 2 days the diarrhea was gone. She still has episodes of yucky poop, probably... -
ARCHIVED Diagnosing Celiac
anniebeth replied to anniebeth's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
So we were doing well and then she had diarrhea this afternoon. I thought, "oh well, I guess that wasn't the problem after all." Then I asked my mother in law what she had for snack yesterday afternoon and she said "cheerios". I had shown her what to give for snack, but apparently they were at her house for some reason and she gave her cheerios instead... -
ARCHIVED Diagnosing Celiac
anniebeth replied to anniebeth's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
So we didn't have any diarrhea today. We had somewhat normal looking poop. I think I'm going to stick with this for a while and see what happens. -
ARCHIVED Diagnosing Celiac

Thanks. I think I'll go to the store tonight to get some gluten free foods... -
Hi. I am new to this forum. I have an 18month old daughter that has always suffered from food intolerances. She was diagnosed with an intolerance to milk at only a few months old. After that, quite a few other foods popped up as well. Since these are intolerances and not "allergies" that (to me) means this is a problem with her gut. The pediatrician...
