ARCHIVED New Mineral/vitamins
kellylynn replied to clanning's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I take the Ambertose (4xday). My aunt has sold it for a long time and really believes in the research behind it. I take as well as many other supplements in addition to the gluten-free diet, so it's hard to say exactly what has made the most difference in my overall health. -
ARCHIVED Positive For 2 Copies Mthfr C677t Mutation.
kellylynn replied to thundersweet's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have at least 1 copy and my dr. put me on the cerefolin nac mentioned above. I'm actually also on a mild chelation treatment for metal toxicity. I didn't know the two were related. Thanks for the info! -
ARCHIVED Osteopenia
kellylynn replied to twe0708's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was dx at 25. It was very upsetting for me. Vitamin D is huge! i've been taking 8000iu's of D3/day + Citrical under my dr.'s supervision. Since doing this regimen and being on gluten-free diet, my osteopenia is improving! There is so much out there about the benefits of Vitamin D...it is so important! -

kellylynn replied to hhdavid's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I take the generic version of Citrical + Vit D + Minerals from Walgreens. You can order it from their website. It says "gluten free" on the bottle. I too was diagnosed with osteopenia, and at a very young age (25). -
ARCHIVED 2 Months And Still Constipated
kellylynn replied to glutengal's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I had nothing but tiny pellets every few days for months....it was unbelievably miserable. I tried water, exercise, fiber smoothies, colon-cleansing pills, and drinking prune juice mixed with aloe vera gel and NOTHING worked. I was at my wits end. My doctor recommend this product called Next to Nature Aloe, it worked wonders. I took too much at first... -

You have to check out Casa Astarita in Sorrento....it's an amazing bed and breakfast. The owner was so kind and was willing to go out of her way to acommodate my gluten free diet. There werea...

kellylynn replied to kellylynn's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Thanks for the tips!!! I am way sad about the gelato!!! It's so amazing!! I'll be checking out the one near the Vatican as much as I possibly can!!! I will definitely be going to that restuarant in Paris ...maybe multiple times : ) -
Does anyone have any restaurant recommendations for Paris, Rome, or the Amalfi Coast? My husband and I are going for our anniversary and I have no idea where we can go out to eat. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much! Kelly

Thanks so much for coming to visit our city!! I'm pretty new to the gluten-free thing. Rio Mar in the Wearhouse District is an excellent choice for Latin inspired seafood. Also, there is a restaurant called Casamento's uptown that has all gluten-free fried seafood. I'm happy to help with suggestions for anything!! We have an excellent zoo, aquarium...

I did have a pituitary adenoma....about 2.5 mm, but it did go away about 9mos. later. I think it's a fairly common thing. So sorry that it's gotten larger! You may feel much better by having them go in and take it out. From what I remember reading the procedure is not as complicated or scary as neurosurgeon might sound. Praying that all goes well!

ARCHIVED Some Help From Thyroid People
kellylynn replied to wschmucks's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I also have normal TSH and t4, but really low t3. I have had all of the hypothyroid symptoms for a long time, but always had a normal TSH. Finally a new and wonderful doctor took the t3 level and was surprised I was even able to function. I am now on a combination of Synthroid and Cytomel. I was doing much better for a few months, and then my t3 level... -
I have had amenorrhea for over 10 yrs. and recently found out about my gluten intolerance (as of Jan 09). No news regarding a possible connection yet, but I do feel much better overall. I'm thankful that the the amenorrhea has at least kept me pushing to find out other health issues (gluten intolerance, osteopenia, hypothyroidism, etc.). I'll keep you...

From what the doctors can tell, I have hypothalamic amenorrhea as well, although it is an exclusionary diagnosis, so I'm always hesitant since there is no treatment for it. I'd rather something that can actually be treated...as if I have a choice : ) I have been hopeful that the diet would help, but was disappointed that it hasn't made your periods come...

I was told today my the manager of the Zea's at Clearview Mall that they are working on a list of gluten free items and that it should be ready within the next few weeks!!! I'm so excited. Their Pepper Jelly Vinaigrette is gluten-free and is SO good! : )

ARCHIVED Entrolab Lab Results Just Arrived....
kellylynn replied to glutenfreegirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I did the enterolab tests at the end of last year. I had a low postitive ttg (somewhere in the teens), but have felt MUCH better since going on the gluten free diet, then I slipped up a few weeks ago and felt horrible again, so I'd definitely try the diet for a few weeks and see if it helps. -
That's really great to keep in mind. Thanks!!

I received a great email today from Ninja Sushi in New Orleans about gluten free rolls: We have gone through our menu, and below is the list of our rolls that do not contain gluten. As far as our sushi and sashimi, we can accommodate your diet as necessary. Tuna Roll White Tuna Roll Yellowtail Roll Miami Roll Shrimp Roll Devil's Roll Cucumber...

My husband and I have looked into it. I just learned about the $11,000+ tax credit for adoptions yesterday. That could be a huge factor for us!!

I was running temperatures lower at night than in the morning, sometimes as low as 94.9. I was put on Thyroid medication for low T3, but didn't start seeing temps that got above 97.0, until I went gluten-free. I still can't really get above 97.5 though. Weight loss is actually a symptom of hyperthyroid though.

I was diagnosed with gluten intolerance only 2 months ago, but I have had 10 yrs. of amenorrhea starting at age 17. Because I also have osteopenia and would like to get pregnant, should I, by the grace of God, ovulate and I on a regiment of estrace and prometrium which does cause a withdrawal bleed. I've only been on this for the 2 mos. as well. So,...

ARCHIVED Juice Plus
kellylynn replied to digmom1014's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My mom has been a distributor for over 10 yrs. and I have taken them on and off. If I remember correctly, there is pretty substantial research behind them....independent, from what I recall. They have removed the oats and barley and claim to be gluten free. I have not had a problem with them. Two of my doctors recommend them as well. It definitely can...
