  1. I went to LabCorp 9 days ago and still have not gotten results. Am I being impatient?

    What Is Going On?

Oops . . . I meant to ask if anyone knows how long I should expect to wait for DNA results from LabCorp.

    What Is Going On?

He is on dairy right now but, he was eating dairy the first time around and was fine. No allergies showed up. He used to have an egg allergy that he has apparently grown out of. I requested testing for myself since I have symptoms as well, but have not gotten the results back yet. I'm hoping if it's positive that my husband will take this all a little more seriously. I am also getting my DNA tested since it is covered under my insurance. I plan on getting my son's DNA tested as well but time is of the essence with an unsupportive family.
  4. My son has had diarrhea for months. We tried various things including taking him off juice, dairy, and giving him probiotics before I decided to take him off gluten. When I tried a gluten free diet the diarrhea almost completely cleared up within the first day or two. He had an appt. with his allergist anyway so I suggested testing him for celiac with the blood test. I understand that it is very unlikely to come back positive in a 2 year old but, my husband is not very supportive without scientific evidence. When the test came back negative my husband strongly suggested putting him back on gluten. I did this hoping the return of diarrhea would convince my husband. He had been gluten free for about two weeks and of course the diarrhea returned immediately. After torturing my son for about a week my husband was starting to come around and agreed to once again take him off gluten. Now is where I become confused. Now that he is again gluten free his diarrhea did not go away as expected. He has been gluten free (time #2) for a week or so. I don't understand. If anyone has any ideas please share. Thanks

    Lazy

I really appreciate all the leads on good beer!

    Lazy

Due to the depression I've been treated for on and off over the years, I've been tested for thyroid issues. Everything seems fine. I was also concerned about this since my sister has thyroid issues. Brain fog and fatigue are only a couple of my symptoms. I also have frequent diarrhea, bloated stomach, joint pain, and muscle aches. I'm also starting to think all those weird cases of "poison ivy in the bloodstream" may have been DH.

You did not come across harshly. I understand the benefits of being diagnosed early. It certainly does put a strain on a marriage. My whole family is hoping that it's not Celiac. I am hoping it is because at least I can finally be free from all the symptoms in my son and myself. I will have to come to terms with the lifestyle changes but, if it means no more fatigue, IBS, joint pain, or brain fog it will be worth it. My 2yo son has had diarrhea 3x a day for months. I will be happy if I can just stop searching for the reason. Thanks for the lead on the beer. I thought gluten-free beer would be hard to find but I followed up yesterday and found out that it is at my local liquor store.

My son had bloodwork done yesterday. He's only been gluten free for a few days so I'm hoping it doesn't skew the results. I was curious what his results would be before I contacted my doctor about myself. I probably should just go ahead and call anyway seeing as many of the symptoms and related illnesses run in my family and I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of them had Celiac Disease. I have already seen some improvements in my son's diapers. It will be much easier to control my son's diet than my own. My husband and I are way into craft brewed beers and belgian beers. I know there are gluten free beers out there but it is more of the social aspect that would be hard for me. It's kind of a hobby for most of my friends. Well, I will definitely get the sublingual B12 and be more conscious of taking my iron as I have always been borderline anemic. I think I will get myself tested but only because I think my family would be more likely to consider going gluten free if I had a real diagnosis. Thanks.

    Misdiagnosis

I was given medicine and it did eventually go away. I'm just so new at all of this. I'm trying to put all the pieces together. Thanks for your response.

Hi, I am new here and very suspicious that my son and I have Celiac. My fatigue is constant and I always attributed it to my horrible case of mono when I was 19 that I never seemed to completely recover from. I have not changed my own diet yet but have changed my son's. My husband is constantly calling me lazy. My brain fog also elicits negative comments from him. Can anyone relate to this scenario and do you have any advice?

    Misdiagnosis

I was wondering if anyone's DH has ever been misdiagnosed as impetigo. Ever since I was a child I will break out in a rash which I think is poison ivy and when it eventually gets to the point of going to the doctor they tell me that I have impetigo. I keep myself clean so, I really don't think I should be developing impetigo on a regular basis. Thanks.

    2 Yr. Old Undiagnosed

The first two days he had the first semi-formed poop that I had seen in months. Then back to the usual. He has been upset when he has to poop but that could be attributed to our recent attempts at potty training (which I have decided to give up on for the time being). Today he had a less watery poop but I wouldn't call it formed. I hope you don't mind all this poop talk. I wasn't sure how fast I should see results. Thanks for all your help.

    Gluten Free Before Bloodwork

How long should I keep him on the diet before I should notice results?

    2 Yr. Old Undiagnosed

Hi, My two year old son has been having diarrhea since before last Christmas. I tried taking him off of dairy and juice with no improvement. We also gave him probiotics. My husband thinks it's just toddler diarrhea. He has not had a normal poop for months. My doctor gave me a referral to a GI specialist but said that my husband is most likely correct since my son is gaining weight and healthy. My husband is apposed to taking him to the GI specialist. Today I took him to the allergist regarding his egg allergy. While I was there I told her that I was suspicious of Celiac. Since she had to do bloodwork anyway, I asked her to test for Celiac. It wasn't until I got home that I remembered he should be on gluten prior to the test. I had taken him off of gluten about five days ago. Will this mess up the results? Thanks for your response.
