Are there any indications whether or not Gluten related Ataxia can occur outside of a diagnose of Celiac ?
-
A cousin who was diagnosed with Celiac was visiting her family in Greece. In her case she can get either VERY uncomfortable to pretty sick when she has gluten. She had not visited Greece since the diagnosis. Family uses locally grown semolinaorganic, non GMO grain for their pasta. A small bite then, more then a meal and she was shocked that she did...

If a person was diagnosed with a Wheat allergy at 9 yrs old with none of the usual Celiac symptoms, what are the chances you could still have a gluten Sensitivity problem at 60 years old?

ARCHIVED Dr. Oz: Enemy Of Gluten Free Efforts
cmoore replied to jessicaljensen's topic in Publications & Publicity
What his observations overlooked is how for many going gluten free balances out their metabolism, quiets cravings, and regulates them to such a degree that weight management becomes MUCH easier to do. Sure it takes time to get there but still....... I saw this show and felt that the main problem with his approach to it was that he did not have the time... -
I have yet to get an official diagnosis but I had a question, Did some people fine it necessary to just not eat out at all in the 1st few months of going gluten free, as they got a handle on it?

Interesting. What I need is a diagnosis but I don't relish eating gluten every day for several weeks to make sure I get an accurate test but I guess Im up for it if I have to. Kaiser has done a very good job from what I understand in the celiac area so Ill play along at this point. I clearly need help to sort through this one.

That sounds good, I re-start full coverage with Kaiser July 1st. ... and none to soon I might add, Im pretty missable these days.

Great advice thanks. I was thinking celiac but steering away from Giuten has not gotten me the mileage on this that I would have hoped. Im thinking now that its more complicated as I have a cupboard full of supplements. Probiotics for what I have felt was a candida problem and lots of other stuff. It may very well be that my gut has been trashed enough...

This is all very interesting to me. I have been struggling with neurological problems relating to weakness and co-ordination and feel I still might have some hidden gluten issues .. BUT, I recently read a very interesting bit on how even Dairy can cause neurological problems in some. Its all very interesting to me in that its like all this this came... -

After things getting worse in this regard its clear I need to get much more strict about this and get my girlfriend on board or ill end up in a freaking wheel chair. Recently we had a great BBQ and I used Chakas BBQ sauce ..... yep Soy sauce and wheat both in the ingredients, how could I have missed that. ARGH!!! -
Awesome ideas thanks for that. I love pancakes, I grew up on the old fashion buttermilk kind and Ive not had them for years. For me dyeing and going to heaven would be all the old fashion pancakes and sourdough bread ...I could eat...oh yea and smothered in whole fat butter. Is anybody with me? "grin"

ARCHIVED Potlucks - "luck Of The Pot"
cmoore replied to cmoore's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Check this out my family grew up vegetarian and we lived on vegetable proteins made out of gluten and soy ... I loved that stuff and just devoured it growing up. Our potlucks ( veggie across the board ) relied heavily on gluten based proteins. Ah yea... had a horrible time in school, regular sinusitis infections, was renowned for being uncoordinated.... -
Potlucks can be evil. So I had the grilled chicken and the hotdogs (without the bun) all good. Salad of brown rice, veggies and cheese all good. The enchiladas looked great and were tasty. Then Im sitting next to the lady who made them as she starts to talk about how she just loved these "multi"-grain tortillas

Dr's prefer something they can discover either very easily (in your 15 min . visit) or they freely spend tens of thousands on tests and on the other end RX's for some commercial drugs waiting for a patient. Its how medicine is run now and its very unfortunate. This is an amazing book on the the state of healthcare in general, Id be you both would find...

Its been what I call the trifecta from hell with gluten, blood sugar and candida. I even read where some forms of celiac can be kicked off by candida overgrowth. I think when your digestion gets ravaged buy this stuff it can cause issues people are not aware of AT ALL. Yes even gluten free stuff can be way to packed with sugar and sugar is as evil...

Thanks, In not new to problems, but new to finding out about it. Yesterday, on small piece of shrimp deep fried in batter of course. About 3 pm. Then about 9 pm. abdominal pain and nausea. Some ginger tea and plain yogurt before bed, a good nights sleep and much much better this morning.
-
I assume everyone is different and also, might the way in which someone reacts change over time? I know some get Gluten and have a reaction in min. Is it possible that some might take several hours to get to pain and nausea and all that? Also some get just crumb and other might only be affected by a bite? Thanks.

Wow for "Days" Really? I have wondered about the bounce back time. I had "sugar free" chocolate candy yesterday, I should have realized dark chocolate has caffeine. If the sugar wont get you the caffeine will. I think in the early stages you have to just simply never go there and give your body some time to balance out. Whew this is tuff stuff to...
