  1. I get the blisters on my eye lids too when I am glutened, and I am having the yellowing. You are not alone. Thanks for sharing.
  2. I found this thread while doing a Google search for choking and Celiac Disease. My sister had a choking event on Sunday that necessitated an ambulance being called. I too have trouble swallowing sometimes - not to the extent she has - but it made me curious as we both have Celiac Disease. I found these links: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared...
  3. Is Tissue Transglutaminase IgG one of the tests that can be done (I am guessing that is what TTG IGG stands for). Please correct me if I am wrong. Thank you.
  4. If you have Celiac Disease, and you are IgA deficient, what do they check on your labs to make sure you are not being "glutened"?
  5. Just an update. Some of my bloodwork came back. I am very low in iron. My levels are 13.5 (normal is 20 - 305). My B12 is off the charts it is so high. My B12 was greater than 1500 (nurse said they don't measure past that amount). I can't remember the normal range for B12. I am waiting for a 24 hour urine test's results. I am also waiting on the rest of...
  6. Thank you all so much. The only place I trust to eat out at now is a little diner that makes me an omelet . The wash the pan out just for me. Offered to make me fries in separate oil. Really have gone out of their way. I have been glutened so many times now that I am almost afraid to eat out. I will look the links over. Thank you. I thought my eye rash...
  7. The doctor suspected I was still getting glutened. Each time I was glutened I figured out how later. Seasoning - who knew. Wooden spoons. Cross-contamination. I was glutened at one restaurant by their seasoning. I only found out later when I inquired. They said they have gluten free shrimp but that the regular shrimp not only has gluten in the seasoning...
  8. I had a rash on my eyelid today. I went to a walk in clinic. Some good news. Doctor thinks it is only a stye. While I was there I had her take a look at my knees and ankles and told her about my new PCP saying my swollen knees and ankles are from perimenopause. Nope. No, they are not. She feels they are neuropathic. She said I need to have a heart to heart...
  9. I don't think she got those records yet. I really had a time getting diagnosed. My old PCP thought that I was menopausal. When I insisted something had to be wrong (I was getting short of breath walking downstairs for instance) he added that was my age. He did order testing, however. He sent me for an FSH test, to a hand specialist who ordered an EMG...
  10. I have been gluten free since July (I have been "glutened" several times but I am trying). In December my lymph nodes swelled up, my nails turned red (I am told that is Raynaud's), and then my knees and ankles started swelling. The lymph nodes are resolving themselves. The knees and ankles continue to swell and then now are starting to hurt, etc. as I...
  11. My ankles and behind my knees are swollen. My doctor said it is called dependent edema. She thinks it is due to perimenopause. I find that hard to believe. Since seeing her, my knees have developed a burning sensation. I sometimes get sharp pains in them when I stand. At times, it feels like my legs are trembling. My right calf is painful. I could actually...
  12. I have had Candidiasis twice now. I was treated two years ago, followed the diet religiously, took Nystatin for three months. My doctor told me I could go back to eating normal foods. I got sick again. I have a new provider at the clinic, she is the founder of the clinic (my other provider left). My new provider has diagnosed me as having the Candidiasis...
  13. I sent the testing to my sister in law. She runs a lab. She said it is the Celiac Testing I asked her advice. She is the smartest woman I know and she listened. She felt like I did initially that I needed a biopsy at this point. Then, I told her both of the doctors' reasonings as to why they are certain it is Celiac Disease. I told her the best I could explain...
  14. I was at an internal medicine doctor yesterday. He said that she would have done the antibody test first. He knew of the clinic was impressed by it. Said she knew her stuff. As we talked and he got my history he said that everything in my abnormal history is explained by Celiac. That I had Celiac first almost certainly it had led to the pernicious anemia...
  15. I thought that was the test she had ordered(I didn't know the name of it but I thought she was looking for antibodies) but when I went in for the results Dr. Pick said she had been looking for the gene. Said the test she did was "controversial" but that in ten years it will be mainstream. That right now the test is on the cutting edge. I am not sure what...
  16. I was sitting here waiting for a friend to write me back on Facebook. I noticed my forearms. I still have the hyperpigmentation that popped up last year. I thought, "Could it be related to Celiac Disease?" Did a search and found this: Open Original Shared Link. The article lists Celiac Disease as one of the potential causes. Wow. Another piece falls...
  17. It was just the HLA-DQ8 that came back positive. She has a great reputation as a doctor. She is certain of her diagnosis. The more I read, the more certain I am she is correct. I can see my rashes are gone too. They are never this gone. Even the stain is gone. Actually, they were gone this much one other time - when her clinic took me off gluten two...
  18. I think I will assume she is correct but also get the biopsy done. I am looking at the handout she gave me (she has this site listed on the handout as the place to go to for answers) and there are all these questionable ingredients that she has listed. It says to check with the manufacturer before eating (assume there is gluten until verify otherwise): brown...
  19. She practices functional medicine. Dr.Marcel Pick. She is the founder of Women to Women in Yarmouth, Maine. Open Original Shared Linkis my gynecologist. My PCP wanted me to get an FSH test when I missed my period for three months this winter. That along with night sweats, joint pain, fatigue, and rash had led me to his office this winter. He suspected...
  20. According to the test, there were three HLA things -Dq2, DQ5, & Dq8 and a fourth whole celiac item (I can't recall the exact name at the moment) that she tested for. It shows that I have the genetic gene necessary. That is what she was looking for, the genetic possibility. She was already sure I had it because of my symptoms and also based her diagnosis...
  21. First of all, thank you all for the thoughtful responses. To give further information: Yes, I do have the symptoms: * I have the rash on my arm and butt. I have had this for 4-5 years off and on. Two dermatologists and two PCPs could not resolve or even identify the rashes. One doctor even had them biopsied. * Everything hurts, I have arthritis i...
  22. My doctor gave me the clinical diagnosis two days ago that I have celiac disease. She based this on my symptoms combined with a blood test for the genetic marker coming back positive. I think the test that came back positive was the HLA-DQ8 test. I asked her to order a biopsy which she has agreed to do. She feels the biopsy is unnecessary because she...
