I never thought that living with someone could make you feel so alone. I have been diagnosed with Celiac about 3 months ago and even though I have been

I dont think you should be sorry thats what blogging is all about.. I know sort of how your feeling when I was sick for three months every single day and night basically and I was starting to think I was just crazy because two hospital visits and no answers really.I was finally diagnosed with celiac disease and even though I tried not eating glutens I was still getting really sick everyday. My boyfriend who I live with was understanding as much as he could be but he just was not getting the fact that I could not eat those foods ever again he just kept saying oh in a few months when you get better you can have that and repeatedly I told him no I couldnt till one day I just got really frustrated and was a little nasty but I told him no I can never eat those foods again even when 20 years pass I still cant eat those so I dont know why you keep saying a dozen times I can the only relief is a life long gluten free diet so please.I felt a little bad but at the same time I was happy I got my point across because he has never said it again.I explained to him all the effects of eating gluten over the long run and he finally realized it was a serious matter and he began being better with understanding what I am going through and honestly now even thinks about things before I do or things I would never even think of.It has been pretty hard for me especially since im only a month into it but like you I was getting sick still every single day and sometimes still do even when I dont eat anything at all well at my last trip to the doctor he gave me the results of my endoscopy and it turns out I also have IBS,acid reflux, gerd and 2 or 3 other stomach issues but most importantly he told me my stomach and esophagus were severly inflamed and he gave me these pills that help fix the inflamation it made me feel so much better I am no longer extremley nausea everyday or crampy I still feel sick some days like my stomach is sore but no where near what it use to be.I was prescribed pain pills for abdominal cramps but they actually made me feel worse so I have never taken them again. As far as your boyfriend acting the way he does about this doesnt really seem as though he supports you but Im just speaking from an outsiders view.I tell people who think what I do is weird like using different pots or washing my hands after touching non gluten food or checking up everything on the computer but I tell them you dont know what the pain feels like so dont have any right to say a word and I hope you never feel this pain thats how bad it is.

My 9 year old daughter has been gluten-free for 5 weeks and still feels horrible. I hope you feel better soon.

Regarding your fiance I think your illness may have a very positive side. I know this may sound strange but you have had the opportunity to see how your life partner responds in a stressful situation-he has acted completely selfish. You want a life partner to be there for you in time of trial not ad to it!!!
Leave him while you still can!!!

I agree with Bianca. I think your partner is being entirely selfish. He may not understand what celiac disease really is. Maybe it would be helpful if you sat down with your partner & a dietician or your doctor, so he hears from the professionals about your disease, life-style changes, pain, & what the ramifications are if you don't follow a gluten-free diet.

If your partner still behaves selfishly, definitely leave him! True love means accepting & caring for someone unconditionally.

Good luck.

thanks everyone. he is doing a lot better with my illness. we are working together to both feel better. i have really never been sick and i guess we just both didn't know how to deal with it. my ranting above made me see that i was being very harsh on him and that i made it seem worse then it was. but i do understand what everyone is saying. Thanks for your input! we are working together to get through this.
