It has been gratifying to check in from time to time, because it still gives a chuckle; still gives a great vent and still educates us to keep pushing until you find a doctor who cares to be a partner in YOUR health and healing...

Worth it for the previous mentioned reasons of following specific lab tests that might be a creative stretch for your PCP to make the insurance company pay; worth it if you need the enforced mentality to stay on the diet; worth it if you need that for family members. Not worth it to get better. Too many doctors keep a blind eye to the variations and subtleties...

Just got back last weekend from the DC area in Alexandria VA Old Town and found 2 gems. Fontaine's cafe and creperie has gluten-free crepes. It is not 100% gluten-free restaurant but they are gluten savvy and the crepes were delicious. The Majestic Cafe was excellent; the servers well educated and the chef staff great. It works very well, I think . I always keep a supply of it with me; you never know if celiac symptoms might strike at an inopportune moment! Well, I was about to get excited, then went and checked their website, and it's got wheat/gluten In fact, the ONLY thing we can eat there is a side salad and a couple of salad dressings. Think I'll give that puppy a pass............

I would like to respectfully disagree with the overall tone of this thread. Doctors are required to participate in CME(continuing medical education) in order to remain on staff at their hospitals. It varies somewhat from specialty to specialty as to how many hours are required. These credit hours are not given in "big pharma 101", but in approved courses...

I have a kind of restless leg syndrome, but it is not classic. I don't just need to move my legs; they have muscle groups that twitch and contract. Occurs at rest or during the day. You might check the benefits for your particular plan. All plans are not equal. I also would advocate you push your insuror even if no dietician benefits exist. Our ONLY medicine is food, but I have yet to find a dietician who knows 10% of what you can find here!

Ok, bash me if you want, but I have to commend the guy for pursuing the EGD with 1 of 3 positive antibodies. Around here, you practically have to beg the GI to biopsy in that situation. Nothing new with my talk with the GI except he agreed I should see an ENT next. And I agreed I'd go in for a face to face talk and exam after the first of the year whether or not this comes back. We'll see. So far still so good. Hope everyone else with swallowing problems gets there,too. -

Hi mef, I would suggest 24hr urine cortisol,8A & 4P serum cortisols,and thyroid antibody panel with free(unbound)T4 and T3 to start. Any wet behind the ears endocrinologist should run these tests. Their recent literature is peppered with articles about celiac disease and endocrime comorbid conditions. Hopefully you'll have one who reads! -

Well, another day without any trouble with swallowing. I am supposed to talk to the GI tomorrow, and decide on a day we can meet face to face and go over all of this. I really believe the steroids stopped it. Maybe Protonix helped,too, but no one really knows. I do not make antibodies very well. I have low IgA and another Ig, and have had neg celiac panels...
