    Do you know about the Great Value brand? First off it is usually the cheapest of all the products, second, they list gluten-free right on the package if it is so.     It sounds like she is exhibiting some of the symptoms of diabetes onset; however, these are not unique symptoms only to diabetes. A BG of 90 is well within the normal range for a non-diabetic. It seems a bit low for a new untreated diabetic though. Ususlly they will be +300 when diagnosed. I don't know if it is possible to have swings of highs and lows...

    I'm no medical expert, but I think you may be misquoting your doctor. There is no way that caliac can "cause" diabetes (I or II). The original onset and diagnosis of diabetes is frequently brought up (I like SpikeMoore's word, "triggered") by another illness. I was diagnosed after a severe hyperthermia/heat exhaustion episode.     I've been diabetic for 17 years now. I was dx with celiac last November. I have other dietary issues and going gluten free made eating a nightmare. I went on an insulin pump right after christmas and that pretty much allows me to eat whatever, and whenever, I want as far as calories and carbs. It has made a huge difference.     I've been eating Cliff bars for snacks for a while now, they are pretty good. I just noticed in the store over the weekend that Cliff makes a protein bar as well, only had one flavor though. It has 20g pro and 30g carbs. I got a couple to try and they are not as tasty as regular Cliff bars in my opinion, but they taste alright and I'm happy to eat them...
