  1. Lara Bars are gluten free and soy free! Some flavors taste better than others though.. you have to experiment with them all.
  2. I'm also a college student... living in the dorms... haha no fun at all... but yes, it is really hard. People don't understand.. and ah yes the "you can't have beer? oh my god how do you survive" is common..i've come across people who are supportive and understanding.. but some people just do not get it.. and its completely normal to feel helpless and hurt...

  4. this isn't really breakfast, but what my mom does with quinoa is put like veggies, feta cheese, you could do meat too i guess... and then she puts a poppyseed dressing and mixes it all up.. and its really not that bad at all.. i just dont like the blandness quinoa has to offer so i think the key is the dressing or the sauce you put on it

  9. I just watched the movie Sydney White with Amanda Bynes.. and they had a gluten free conversation! I had to tell someone, and I figured you would all get just as excited as I was. They were at a cookout, and Sydney reassured her friend that they had a separate gluten free soy burger for him! Another girl overheard and was like ohh do you have another one...
  10. For the most part I have gotten 100% support. My mom was on board day one... we went to NYC with my family and she was like were eating at gluten free restaurants for every meal.. haha... friends that saw me pre-gluten free being so sick are supportive. But I'm having issues with my college roommate, she doesn't understand why I'm so strict, or if I question...

  12. I know exactly what you mean, I had a friend who died two months ago from cancer. But she was one of the most beauitful, inspiring people you would ever meet. She would be in the hospital undergoing chemo sending me care packages of gluten free food! And I would call her and be like thank you so much but really focus on yourself! Let me send you care...

  14. I live in a dorm too... so I can understand your frustration... it is hard, not impossible but hard. If you talk to your dining hall they might be able to provide gluten free options, I ended up getting out of my meal plan cause things just weren't working out. But its worth a talk with the nutritionist/chef at your school because they can probably help...
  15. I'm not sure if you have a Whole Foods near you... but in the frozen section, Kettle Soups just came out with a bunch of gluten free flavors! Clam Chowder, Chicken and Rice Noodle, Chili.. there all really good!! Just make sure your buying the one with "gluten free" on the box.. cause they make gluten containing soups as well.

  17. ohh im sorry! i'm pretty sure the Necco candy hearts are gluten free! Which Necco products are Gluten Free? We make the following products which do not contain gluten from wheat, rye, oats or barley: Necco Wafers, Mary Janes, Mary Jane Peanut Butter Kisses, Sweethearts Conversation Hearts (Valentines only), Canada Mint & Wintergreen Lozenges...
  18. A friend of mine recommended these to me a few years ago, I really liked the Lemon cake mix! I haven't baked with this brand in a while but I remember liking it a lot!
  19. I'm not sure if you like Cinnamon bread but this recipe is from the bakery in NYC Babycakes... the founder was on Martha Stewart.   20. I was just wondering if anyone knew if the Desert Pepper Trading Co drink mixes where gluten free. My roommate just came home with the Mojito mix and I'm not sure if its safe, and I can't find any info on their site. Anyone try these before? Thanks!

  22. I'm not sure if this is what Lovelycherry is talking about, but in a nutrition class we learned that often Celiac patients can have fingerprint atrophy. On one of my exams we even had a case study involving a boy with no fingerprints who was Celiac! haha
  23. I know, I hated all the Lara bars too.. but I don't really seem to mind the Jocalate flavors.

  25. I just got back Tuesday night! Prague is absolutely beautiful!!!! The buildings are gorgeous and everything is just so ornate and pretty! If you drive from the airport to Prague.. some areas aren't so nice, but believe me once you hit the city you will be amazed. As for the food however, I had a tough time and did end up getting sick after a few meals...
