  1. A doctor can biopsy the small intestine and get a sample that does not have damaged villi. That doesn’t mean that there are no damaged villi. It’s a big area. I would trust the diagnosis and see if your son’s symptoms are resolved. If they are, there’s your confirmation. (Also, have you had a celiac panel? Miscarriage is higher frequency in women with ce...
  2. I had such pain before diagnosis 6 years ago. Now I’ve recently had many bouts in last 3 months. Trying to figure it out myself but haven’t given everything up over holidays to do a true elimination diet. Rice could bother you. Grains can be tricky even so-called gluten free grain I can’t eat oats at all even certified gluten free oats. I used to eat a lot...
  3. I have broken several bones since being diagnosed with celiac. My bone density has gotten worse and I also have a parathyroid issue. (Elevated levels). However my blood calcium is normal. I read a study from a renowned medical journal about eating 4-5 prunes a day helping regain bone. I’ve been doing that for the past 9 months along with calcium citrate a...
  4. Good luck to you! It gets easier quickly. I just got diagnosed in July and feel very comfortable with it all. Hang in there and get good gluten free treats so you don't feel deprived. Keep good snacks at work so you don't feel tempted by the junk there!

I like celery with peanut butter. There are so many good things but not in a box usually! Meat is good: but not hot dogs or things with fillers. If you can meet someone else w celiac...
  7. I was diagnosed by biopsy first, then in July had bloodwork that confirmed celiac. My level for the iGa was 85. Forty days later of being gluten free I was retested by another gastro amd the test was 138. Why would it increase? I had a few mistakes the first week, but have been so vigilant. Not even eating gluten free breads or crackers. Mostly fruit...
  8. Thank you for the thyroid info. I am going to request to get that tested. I am just not improving, still in pain, chronically constipated despite figs and nuts and more fruits than I have ever eaten! This gluten-free diet sure is healthy. I wonder why doc did not refer me for bone density either since I broke my wrist 7 mos ago. Gotta be smarter than...
  9. Help! Diagnosed by biopsy in July and bloodwork. Thought I had ulcers and constipation. Anyway I have been gluten free obsessively but am still very constipated and in pain. I have subtotal villous blunting and intraepithelial lymphocytes. I got 83 on my tTG bloodwork. I am desperate to go to bathroom and went to health food store. The owner suggested...
