  1. Irish, your name tells us that. ;-P Speaking of which, I think I may be turning Irish, I've been hooked on McKinsey's hard ciders since a friend of mine gave me some to try at a new product meeting with the distributor.
  2. My favorite word in that entire statement!
  3. I wasn't saying it was ignorance including it, I just wanted to make sure that you (and your doctor) were aware that it's not a celiac test. In my experience, there are doctors who don't even know what tests are for celiac and what are not.
  4. Mileena, I can definitely understand your frustrations with the doctors...I had the same situation with them. I ended up having to go to a private lab myself and get the tests run out of pocket (it was pricy, but compared to my medical bills not knowing what was going on it was definitely worth it to get an answer). Have you asked your therapist to speak...
  5. There is nothing requiring a biopsy for celiac diagnosis. The doctor can make a diagnosis based on a combination of factors including blood tests, symptoms, rash biopsy, intestinal biopsy, and/or improvement on a gluten free diet with one of the above. However, if I'm not mistaking, ANA (or Anti Nucleic Antibodies) is not a celiac test, I have only seen...
  6. Karen, I probably should have mentioned that when I shared the link. BlessedMommy, I recall seeing a post from you about your reaction. I don't blame you for not even being willing to do 3 days. On the bright side though, if this test gets approved, it will be easier for those who don't get tested first to go get tested with less of a risk. It also...
  7. It's been a little while since I've been on here, but life has been crazy. On the bright side, Aldi's is finally open by me! Pasta for half the price of Kroger, a decent selection of baking mixes, gluten-free HOT POCKETS!!!!!!!!!, 25%-50% lower meat and produce costs! Heck yes!!! Tomorrow I will make my face known requesting a rush on the FULL gluten free...
  8. And now for a post related to the thread topic....tonight for dinner I decided to be a little uncreative...just simple pasta with diced grilled chicken and red sauce. Pretty good for being simple stuffs.
  9. Haha. This makes me think of last night when I went to my favorite "watering hole" and got a few drinks (they got Johnny Appleseed on draft now! I tell myself it's just for me!) But anywho, one of the servers comes up to me and asks "what gluten free beers do we have?" Weird I know, but she knows I can't have gluten, so she decided to ask a trusted source...
  10. What app is this that has gluten free coupons???
  11. Yes I had lettuce on the too. Before I found the pure knead bread I was making lettuce wraps. :-)
  12. Horses leads me to think there's plenty of land to go wandering on...I'm game!! When is the party? But anywho, I am happy to finally be able to do things and not feel like crap! I am happy the the mention of celiac puts a stop to things before they get started (for those that stalk, I mean follow my posts, dietary restrictions is a no for that girl), but...
  13. Just found a more detailed article, also from January, which lists the name of the test as "cytokine release' test" Open Original Shared Link
  14. I agree with you Laura, I'm just curious if anyone has seen anything newer than this article from January. But from the study they reference, it looks pretty promising.
  15. Disclaimer to those in the process of getting tested: this test from what I have read is still in the trial and experimental stages. It is not available to the public as a diagnostic tool...yet.
  16. Do I came accross this article, and I know several people on here have had major issues with the gluten challenge to get tested. I am curious if anyone has seen any more information on this new test that does NOT require a gluten challenge?? Open Original Shared Link
  17. That hit the nail on the head!
  18. I know how you feel (well, aside from the female problems). It is very frustrating, and you think "oh, I'll remove gluten and feel perfectly fine." Haha, not the case. There is still gluten in your body even after you stop eating it, and it will take time for it to all get out of your system. It's kinda like a Hemoglobin A1C test, which shows your average...
  19. Once I get my evil scientist project done I will be able to harness the energy from children, making them tired for bed, and give the energy to adults. *evil scientist laugh here* That has been my life long project.
  20. Yep. :-) It's still not as much energy as I would like, there's others who were still going like an energizer bunny Friday night, but at least I was still functioning Friday night. Now if I can just get rid of some of these other lingering things.
  21. Boars Head meats and cheeses. http://boarshead.com/health-wellness/information/gluten-free/
  22. This week has been a lot of fruits, foster farms corn dogs, and sandwiches. Yes, sandwiches on nice moist no toasting needed gluten free bread! I was at Kroger last week and the lady that stocks the health food section told me about Pure Knead bread...certified gluten free, no toasting, and moist! It almost tastes like "normal" folk bread, and it's made in...
  23. Asthma, and "allergies to unknown substances" (in ither words, they can't figure out what triggers my classic seasonal allergy symptoms year round, but the symptoms have improved done since Dx of celiac)
  24. random question: I had someone tell me that they cut back on gluten in their daughter's diet because it's apparently linked to ADHD...I've found reports that show this, but I am not getting a clear understanding of whether the gluten is the cause or it is a direct "symptom" of celiac? Anyone have any clear information on that? I would really like to know...
  25. The past couple weeks have been insane!! Like completely! I took on a new position with my church a couple months ago, which lead to me being heavily involved in stuff for our VBS this past week. I have been leaving home every morning for work at 7:45am and getting home after VBS at about 11:00pm. My only day off was Tuesday (which I spent leaving extra early...
