My initial symptoms when I was diagnosed 8 years ago were severe cramps in my calves at night, joint pain and cancker sores in my mouth. Once I went gluten free, my symptoms subsided in about a week. If I accidentally ingest gluten now, I get violently ill with abdominal pain, nausea and constant vomitting.
