Blood Test Results - Any Insight?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I was hoping the more experienced people around here might be able to provide some advice on my test results?

IgA 1.52 g/L

Gliadin IgG <1 U/mL

TTG IgA <1 U/mL

firstly, I already know they're negative. The doctor told me that much, she didn't give me any details or explanation though. So what kind of range would positive celiac tests show up with? and did she run all the vital tests. Here's to hoping I didn't miss any! :)

Thanks in advance!

One is the total IgA, the other is gliadin IgG, a not so specific test, and another is the tissue transglutaminase IgG.

You lack the endomysium test, and the deamidated gliadin test. And, the biopsy.

Lots of biopsy proven celiacs are negative on blood tests, at least 10-20%.

gluten-free since may 06 after neg. biopsy symptoms went away and DH symptoms which I had since 03 got gradually better.

daughter officially diagnosed celiac and casein intolerant.

non-DQ2 or DQ8. Maybe DQ1? Updated: Yes, double DQ5

Hypothyroid since 2000, thyroxine first started to work well 06 on a low-carb and gluten-free diet

Lost 20 kg after going gluten-free and weighing 53 kg now. neg. biopsy for DH. Found out afterwards from this forum that it should have been taken during an outbreak but it was taken two weeks after. vitaminD was 57 nmol/l in may08)

A positive test would be above whatever cutoff the diagnostic lab provides. It can be very different from lab to lab with the celiac tests because the units of measurement are not standardized. You would have to ask your doctor for the "reference range" of the diagnostic test to know what a positive result would be.

Nora's comments are accurate, as always!
