  1. Knitty Kitty, you might be on to something! I did not know B1 could elevate liver enzymes! I know choline deficiency can cause fatty liver, so these things are worth looking into. Thank you.
  2. Hey Kate! I am certainly not a doctor by any means. All I can do is give my scenario and let you do with the information what you will. Your lethargy/fatigue sounds different to mine. Yours seems more physically based. Mine is more central nervous system; like chronic fatigue. My mind plans out a weekend, but I prefer to lay on the floor...
  3. I finally had my blood work done. All micros, except iron, are well in the upper ranges of normal. Woot! I guess that means intestines are healing. Fatigue still plagues me, though. Not as much as it used to, but I feel only 25% better. The average news is my ALT and AST levels are sitting just above the upper range of normal. I have to now have...
  4. Thanks for that. I just watched it. My diet is high in protein and I do not eat as much fat as what is recommended on most ketogentic diets. Like I said, my diet was so severely lacking for so many years that this is the first time I have ever felt I am close to getting what I need. But I take your care with all my heart. I shall be careful, for I do...
  5. Well, well! It has been a while. I needed time away from social media and only inching back towards the more sensible ones now. I hope you are all well and keeping sane in these very ... unique times. I decided to try the carnivore diet. I had been listening to Drs Ted Naiman and Paul Saladino, and began looking at what the Armstrong Sisters were up...
  6. I do not know, RobMass. I have been on the carnivore diet for two plus months now. I can eat without fear, I hit all my nutrients, I am absorbing a lot more of my food and my skin is better than ever. It is a bit of a cop out to live this way, but my mind is so much more at ease than navigating eating out, food labels etc. I am actually having...
  7. The grief... Oh yeah, it is real. I mourn for the opportunities I knocked back food wise, for I was one of those women you spoke of! I avoided fattening foods, and I had no guidance on how to eat, and THEN I took up body building in 2010. Been clean eating since then. All those croissants I never ate, the pizzas I have never tried, the fish and chips I watched...
  8. Like everyone here, it is a personal journey. The pain and bloating were the first to subside. Migraines and hay fever then disappeared by the second week. The horrid exhaustion was lessened by the end of week three. My arthritis has decreased substantially and I noticed that by my sixth week. I am still having trouble with lethargy. My moods are a...
  9. Sheesh! 11 days in?? Oh no, my sweet! I am 4 months in and only just starting to see any weight gain. I dropped for three months and just had to have faith. I have been 64-65 kg for the last five years, eating 50% more calories than a healthy woman of my age and size would eat normally. And I was simply maintaining. My body fat has been around 16-18% these...
  10. Hi. I'm only four months into life post diagnosis, but have been lifting weights since I was 18, on and off over the years. Been serious about it since 2010 and I am now 46. I sought medical help for myself when I found my weights at the gym were declining rapidly and I literally cried even stepping foot in the gym early last year. I could not put weight...
  11. Yes, BuddhaBar, I can relate! I thought I was bullet proof til mid 2019. Was a rude shock to discover my frailty.
  12. I left off my last blog entry about to see my GP for my ongoing lethargy issues. My iron stores are now in the normal range (yay!) and my fasting blood glucose is 5.4. She left me with the advice to allow time to heal things and that there is nothing she can find that is wrong with me. Resting my entire weekend, every weekend, away is not what I call...
  13. Ok, saw my GP. She seems to think there is something else going on. If my blood tests come back normal for iron and fasting blood glucose, she'll refer me on to a gastroentereologist. I think it is a little beyond her expertise. At least she is honest. I have started taking B complex. A tiny bit more energy yesterday. I suspect that glutening Monday...
  14. Thank you for the very kind welcomes! Dark chocolate (95%+) fan here. And I am really enjoying organic cream. My body feels starved of fats, so I am lapping them up. I am looking forward to getting hold of animal oils to cook in. Food does taste much better cooked in them.
  15. I am finding, as I get to reset my body and start to know a gluten-free version of me, that my job is a place of stress and angst. I do not want this sort of life any more. I need a job and work environment more in tune with who I am becoming. Have any of you found the same happening to you, post diagnosis? How did you handle it? What changes did you...
  16. NNowak, thank you. So happy I found this site months ago. Absolute gem of a place.
  17. G'day to you. Nice to see you here. I'm Keight; a middle aged woman from Australia. I am a truck mechanic by trade and I have two teen sons, who are the light of my life. As a baby, I had massive intestinal issues and could not hold down the baby formulas on the market at that time. Eventually, I was given a mix of evaporated milk and vitamin drops...
  18. Lol. Glad to hear there will be positives too! It feels absolutely crappy to be lying around when my boys could be living life with me. And it feels horrid to be needing time off work to sleep. I'm seeing my dr this afternoon, I've done my blood tests and I'll plug on with life.
  19. Awesome! Thanks knitty kitty. I tried magnesium and found I was a bit queasy after it. I will, however, give the B1 a try. I have done a bit of reading up on it. Pretty keen to see if it helps.
  20. Thanks knitty kitty. I know I am iron, calcium, vit D and Vit B12 deficient. My dr isn't too keen to look further into my deficiencies, so how can I get my other statuses checked?
  21. It has been my only gluten experience since I went gluten-free. Ironically, I had spoken to the waitress, who had arranged a clean chicken breast to be cooked separately for my salad. I FORGOT TO ASK ABOUT THE DRESSING! But yes, I shall heed all advice above, quit the pity party and carry on. Thank you all for being here to hold our hands.
  22. Hmm, thanks Cycling_lady. An interesting watch, though the first 5 min had me facepalming myself. Given it was the xmas period and I had no time to get to pathology to give blood in a fasting state, I have not done that yet. My dr is very loathe to do antibody panels for a long while yet. I was glutoned the Mon night before Xmas. A really rotten...
  23. Thanks Ennis. I cannot tolerate caffeine at all any more. ? I am usually a chilli fiend too, but now feel ill if I have a little. Any, and all, stimulants have been told to hit the road by my body. My intestines run this show now! I am on a cocktail of vits and minerals, which I take on breakfast. I feel better working out early too, but it interferes...
  24. Ok, I am being slightly melodramatic, but my weekends and public holidays are largely spent lying down and watching Youtube docos. I am a little concerned my energy isn't picking up enough to 'start having a life' again. Work exhausts me, and I have cut the gym to whenever I feel the energy is enough to go. But beyond that, I simply cannot summons...
  25. My gut went 'normal', i.e. not distended, after I ditched all grains. Within three days, I had a flat midsection. Dairy, and obviously gluten, makes my gut flare up within an hour. Mind you, I do not carry much body fat, so results are pretty clear and makes it easier for me to see what works and what doesn't. Being low carb has given me the blessing...
