  1. Have you read the disclaimer on the lower left of this web site. the person who made this website is not a clinician . you have to be careful of what you read and make a decision on your own when you want to eat foods again. as for the allergy testing the only thing you can't do before testing is have any antihistamines 7- 10 days prior due to it will mess with testing. it seems to me that maybe you were eating too many jalapeno chips or too much of one food that can cause GERD symptoms. sometimes we can get diarrhea becuase of a stomach bug and not from a reaction to foods or gluten. if you like a certain food it should be everything in moderation.. also you need to be cafeful with some tomato paste because there is a brand out there for the italian seasoning one that does contain wheat.. try to relax and enjoy your life each day is precious and there are plenty of foods out there for you to enjoy... baby steps

    Apple Pie Crust

I don't ususally make pie crust becuase I stink at baking / rolling dough etc. I have made this apple pie from Betty Crocker it is easy and my family loves it better than regular (gluten) apple pie. I found the hardest part for me was cutting the apples... it was good here is the recipe if you like it. I usually google betty crocker gluten free recipes and have very good results. Good Luck.. Impossilby Easy French Apple Pie Filling 3 cups thinly sliced peeled apples (3 medium) 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1/2 cup Bisquick

    Hida Scan Results

Hi I am not sure if this will help, but I have been gluten free for > 5 years.. my gallbladder didn't act up until 2 summers ago out of the blue, never had an issue until one day, I was jaundice it passed then about two weeks later, I woke with awful pain that I thought was my heart or reflux.. I was admitted for 5 days until after all the testin I had done they decided to do a HIDA scan and wouldn't you know it,, my EF was at 3 % when they removed my gallbladder it was the size of a piece of bread according to the surgeon.. i can't tell honestly say if going gluten free will save your gallbladder but I do know that having the surgery preventivetly vs emergency surg makes a world of difference..

No One Will Come Over To Eat At My House

how about cooking the roast on a roasting rack (involves no oils or sprays ) make them some betty crocker gluten free cupcakes or cake and make something that you can eat for dessert as well or ice cream. when i cook for my extended family for holidays or get togethers i always make sure my meal is gluten free / never give up ingredients or how i cooked it (unless someone has serious allergy) but i make sure there are things we can all eat. I am sorry your Mom is so defiant about coming over ( olive oil ) but I am wondering if you sister cooks with olive oil and doesn't mention it to mom.. ????? good luck

    Kindergarten Shots

Hi, you can check with your pedi office and have them verify the shots most if not all are gluten free and thimersol free.. you child should be getting his vaccines in his arms and not his legs.. generally the rule of thumb is if they are walking you vaccinate in their arms.. they will be sore in the arms d/t some are given in the muscle but tylenol / motrin usually helps.. kids can pick up on your anxiety especially at shot time, tell them the truth.. it will hurt / little pinch but then its done.. think of the alternative that he will be building protection for his immune system to keep him healthy.. i hope this helps a little good luck

    Products At Labor And Delivery

Good Luck with your delivery.... I wish you wouldn't take your own percocets into the hospital.. you need to be careful on what they give you and what you take there is only a certain amount of tylenol or motrin one is allowed w/in a 24 hour period, if they give you a PCA Pump you really don't want to take additional pain meds w/out your nurses knowledge.. when a pain med is given it is documented to see if it works.. if it doesn't they ususally prescribe something else.. please becareful some medications pass through breast milk...if you contact the pharmacy of the hospital early enough they can look up what medications are gluten free for you...i wish you a pain free recovery... good luck

To Trust Or Not To Trust?

I have been eating the brown rice tortillas for the last couple of months..I haven't had a problem w/them. I do keep them frozen and before I make my sandwich at work I zap it in the mirco for about 30 seconds to soften it... I haven't noticed any reaction to these tortillas... sometimes we can eat things that others can't.. for example I would kill for the donuts that kinnick makes tried them x 3 and still can't tolerate it...

    Celiac Mom's Dementia Issues

I know I am reaching here, but has anyone checked your mom for a UTI. Elderly people exhibit urinary tract symptoms different then what we do... they have memory loss, confusions, delerium... it's a reach but someone should get a urine culture and check to see if she is dehydrated... they don't get the usual such as burning w/urination, cramping etc.... my dad's sister was 68 when they diagnosed her with dementia... she also was a very bad asthmatic and used alot of inhalers and had many asthma attacks... it makes me wonder if this had anything to do with her memory issues.. good luck..
  18. Hi everyone. I myself have Celiac and I suspect my daughter my have it as well. Here are my issues: She is 10 / never a sleeper as a baby she would wake 4-5 times a night , same as a toddler 4-5 times a night.. as she grew older always had issues with constipation (as did I with celiac) she was on miralax for first 3 years of life and still has constipation issues now.has hypoglycemia.. every couple of years I have her tested for celiac and it always come back negative.. as of today sleep has always been an issuse but for the last 5-6 months she can't sleep, she will fall asleep for about 3 hrs wake up about 3-5 times a night.. she is fine we are exhausted we met with a neruologist to have a sleep study, they declined wanted to put her on klonipin or anti-depressent (which i outright refused) she is not depressed, very active girl, dance class, swim team plenty of they drew her ferritin level and she should be the range is 50 to 70 her results are 37.4.. i asked about food allergies keeping her up, explained about celiac.. everywhere i have read that children with celiac have low ferritin levels which will increase once starting a gluten free diet.. they (doc / specialist) want no part of this.. they want to put her on 650mg of oral iron.. which in turn will make her constipation greater and put her back on miralax... they also ordered a 48 hr EEG to rule out seizure activity.. i don't think this is the case...she is very alert when she wakes up and can't sleep.. no s/sx of seizure. i am torn.. i want her to sleep, i want her levels to rise,, i know i read that celiac can present itself before puberty which she is so so close too... has anyone else had an issue like this with their child.... my family always teases me in a fun way when i say "maybe you have celiac", but this time i am leaning towards it.. my husband and i switched rolls, i want to go the natural approach, change her diet..he wants the medical tests done.. i am the one usually pushing for the tests... any input would be great.... thanks..
  19. no age restriction it just rears it ugly head around this time if they were to get it early... they can have it at a few months as well.....
  20. i would check with my pedi right away.. babies do spit up after feeding every now and then, if this is constant and turns into projectile they usually want to see them to rule out pyloric stenosis.. it ususally shows by 2nd or 3rd week of life... nine times out of ten it is not this and usually reflux..which most docs would prescribe omeprazole based on weight.. just becareful after the feed, make sure you keep him upright for a good 20-30min.. to make sure he won't choke if spits up.... babies are scary things and don't come with instructions...please always check with your pediatrician regarding any issues docs are on call 24 hrs or have someone covering for them... and no question is ever dumb and they are always getting the worried well call... good luck...
  21. thanks for the reply: sorry so late in respondig... i did start her on 325mg of the iron every 3rd day.. with constipation already..there was no way i was going to give her 650 mg. we saw her pedi and she feels that we should go ahead with the 48 EEG to rule out any night seizures ..(my oldest who is now 24 had seizures from 6 months to 3 yrs of age) but she did order a boat load of blood test to be done on this coming friday.. from her cbc w/differential to thyroid to albumin, electrolytes and the proper celiac panel that they run at childrens here in boston.. she also suggested that after the EEG if everything comes out fine (fingers crossed) that we start the elimination diet of gluten to see if there is a difference, so if we notice a difference then re-start her on gluten and see if her symptoms come back.. we are also having a magnesium test as well... it was funny because my pedi mentioned a leaky gut vs celiac as to why she may be anemic.... thanks for the suggestions... i don't wish celiac on my daughter but my gut instict tells me she may have it.. and not with the normal tests... but at least my pedi is on tract,, but the neurologist not so much...

    Nighttime "accidents"

I do hope you find your answer. Anytime someone has a change in bowel habits that have lasted a while you should check with your GI esp after having a colon resection.. you mind need to have an upper and lower GI x/ray with a bowel follow through, just to make sure you are not impacted (which you can produce loose icky stools) or something else going on with your colon. Mixed incontinence is not an aging process (i don't know your age) so anytime there is an issue, if you can you should follow up to r/o medical as well as try elimating and checking on your products as others suggested. Good Luck
