ARCHIVED Vitamin Levels Ok, Still Exhausted, More Testing
flowerqueen replied to CajunChic's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Giving up dairy products can help with sinus problems. I have been plagued with sinus problems almost all my life. When I was diagnosed with Coeliacs disease a few years ago, I had already given up dairy as I was unable to tolerate it and noticed my sinus problems improved. Other people I know have also given up diary to improve sinus issues. There's only... -
ARCHIVED Amitryptyline (Elavil, Endep, Levate) For Nerve Pain
flowerqueen replied to cristiana's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes, many years ago, but my spine is crumbling (I've lost 3 & 3/4 inches in height) and it made it worse as the osteopath snapped my bones into place, instead of manipulating them. That's put me off for life I'm afraid. -
ARCHIVED Amitryptyline (Elavil, Endep, Levate) For Nerve Pain
flowerqueen replied to cristiana's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I take your point! It will be interesting to see what transpires. I have to admit that I was diagnosed with it in my fifties, although I've suffered with it for much longer. What I'm a bit puzzled by though is, if you have coeliac disease and it causes similar pain, and have cut out all gluten and wheat, why do we still have the pain? Should it not go or... -
ARCHIVED Amitryptyline (Elavil, Endep, Levate) For Nerve Pain
flowerqueen replied to cristiana's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi Irish Heart, Re: discussion on Fibromyalgia. Anything can become a self-fulfilling prophecy if you are that way inclined I expect; what worries me is that some doctors don't think it's a real condition (all in the mind), fortunately, there are a lot more that know this isn't true. My daughter, has just forwarded me a newspaper article, not even knowing... -
ARCHIVED Amitryptyline (Elavil, Endep, Levate) For Nerve Pain
flowerqueen replied to cristiana's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have nerve pain due to degeneration of the facet joints in my spine and have taken Amitriptyline for years. I didn't think they were doing much good until I was weaned off them to go on something else (I also have fibromyalgia) then I realised that they were working! Warning though, they are possibly not suitable if you have heart problems. I recently had... -
Oh my goodness! Why would you want to put yourself through it? I reiterate what everyone else has said, you must not try gluten again. No good can ever come of it. You don't wake up one morning and be cured, it is life long. The only reason you are feeling good at the moment is because you have not eaten gluten and your gut has recovered from being bombarded...

ARCHIVED Say You Have Celiac Without Dx
flowerqueen replied to patz16's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
As you've already displayed severe symptoms when you've consumed gluten, personally, I would not want to go through eating gluten again for 6 weeks in order to get an official diagnosis. I did and felt far worse eating gluten than I did originally. (Plus, think of the damage it does to the gut while consuming it!) I'd say, what you tell others is your own... -
I also agree with Cyclinglady, you are not being too sensitive, but they are being insensitive. It is wrong of them to mock you in this way. I'm afraid that if it was me, I would take the 'bull by the horns' so to speak, and tell them outright. I have always liked to get things out in the open instead of bottling it up. Some bullies stop if they think you...

ARCHIVED Burning Sensation In Mouth
flowerqueen replied to flowerqueen's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Mustard sounds like another possibility I will need to look into. I don't put mustard on my food these days, but I notice it is in a lot of ready made foods as flavouring. I think I need to restart by food diary, as there's been so many suggestions been put forward relating to food. Thanks. -
ARCHIVED Burning Sensation In Mouth
flowerqueen replied to flowerqueen's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have taken medication for reflux (PPI) for many years, but recently changed to a different brand and the doctor also increased the dosage to 40mg, and by day 3 I couldn't tolerate it any more and stopped taking it. (Later finding out you need to come off it slowly, which was too late for me). After going through a rough patch and following other advice... -
ARCHIVED Burning Sensation In Mouth
flowerqueen replied to flowerqueen's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
This is very interesting, and I thank you for taking the trouble to go into such detail. I will certainly investigate this. In the UK foods which contain sulfites has to be declared on the packaging. It's such a shame that other countries have not all done the same. -
ARCHIVED Burning Sensation In Mouth
flowerqueen replied to flowerqueen's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thank you, your help is very much appreciated. I have a feeling they are going to suggest something like Gabapentin for one of my issues any way, but it may mean weaning me off something else I'm in first. I will definitely let you know how it goes. Thanks for the info on Sjögren's I'll have a look now. -
ARCHIVED Burning Sensation In Mouth
flowerqueen replied to flowerqueen's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks, I seem to have one set back after another, which is quite depressing. As you have suffered from it in the past, you will know how bad it gets. It gives me hope though, that you have managed to get rid of it - even though it took a long time. One doctor in the past mentioned Sjögren's syndrome to me, relating to another problem I was having, but ... -
Has anyone ever had a burning sensation in their mouth (upper palate), tongue and inside of lips? I have noticed this getting worse over the last week or so. I have looked on line and there seems to be various causes. I just wondered if anyone with Celiacs had it, and what they thought might be the clause. Chewing gum seems to help, but I can't do that 2...

ARCHIVED Acid Reflux And Ppi's
flowerqueen replied to flowerqueen's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
That gives me hope to carry on. I'm surprised at the amount of people that say PPIs make their reflux worse, bearing in mind that's what they are for. Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Baclofen Medication?
flowerqueen posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Anyone taking Baclofen? I'm interested to find out if anyone of this medication has suffered with acid reflux, as I'm trying to find the source of my problem. I'm not saying categorically that this is what has caused my acid reflux as I have a hiatus hernia. With Baclofen being a muscle relaxant, I was just wondering if this is why I'm having worse problems... -

I will have a look into it. As I've heard some good reports since researching the HCL. Thanks -

ARCHIVED Acid Reflux And Ppi's
flowerqueen replied to flowerqueen's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for all your replies. Does anyone take Baclofen, and if so, has it made their acid reflux worse? I may also post this as a separate thread if that's allowed? -
ARCHIVED Acid Reflux And Ppi's
flowerqueen replied to flowerqueen's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes, thanks. I also find liquid gaviscon type mixture of little use too. I've resorted to using baking soda too in the last few days. I got my husband to elevate our bed at the top. He put it on blocks of wood, which have gradually got higher, to try and help. -
ARCHIVED Boy Did I Throw The Hospital For A Loop!
flowerqueen replied to sarahdea's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Words fail me. I'm so pleased you are at home now. It's bad enough contending with a hysterectomy without the added complication of them not being able to find you anything you could eat. I had my hysterectomy before I was gluten free and it was bad enough contending with a stomach full of stitches without having to find something gluten free. When my... -

ARCHIVED Acid Reflux And Ppi's
flowerqueen replied to flowerqueen's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes, I think I need to try some of these. I know it sounds silly, but the name of them puts me off. It sounds like something that would make your acidity worse. . I understand though, that the older you get the less acid you have naturally present in your stomach. -
ARCHIVED Acid Reflux And Ppi's
flowerqueen replied to flowerqueen's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I've lost weight as I have not been eating fatty or sweet things, as they seem to make the reflux worse. I think the medicine I take for severe back spasm in upper back could be responsible as they are a muscle relaxant, and it's relaxing muscles I don't need relaxing as well as the ones i do. -
