Before I begin writing letters to companies requesting information on their products (I'm thinking personal care products like lotion and such), I would like some input from those with experience doing this. Any tips for achieving the best responses? Are there any letter templates out there to get me started? Thank you!!

I usually phone call or email them. Very informal. Explain who has Celiacs (you or your child). Have a specific product in mind to ask about. Ask if it is gluten-free. If a certain ingredient is the issue, ask about it. Depending on the feed back at this point, I ask if the clearly label for gluten or if they can send me a list. Many are reluctant to send a list. You can ask about the manufacturing processes if the item is made on shared lines. Some companies completely sterilize the lines in between batches or test, if any possible contamination, they label for it. I feel those are safe.

Hope that helps.
