Hi, Today I have my first Dr`s appointment and i`m very nervous. I feel like I don`t know what to expect,.

Could anyone please help....what shall I ask, what shall I say?

I wrote a list of things that I eat and my reaction words it.

Example: pasta, as soon as I eat it I have to go to the bathroom same with milk and so on.

Should I hint that I think that I might be Celiac or let him tell me? Some times I feel like i`m imaging things and maybe exaggerating ?

Help i`m very confused and depressed! :(

There are many, many doctors who don't know a single thing about nutrition or celiac disease. You can start out with just describing how you react to certain foods. Then, if this doctor suggests that you may be gluten and dairy intolerant and wants to test you for celiac disease, happily agree and be glad you found a doctor who knows what he is doing.

If, on the other hand, he wants to tell you that you have IBS and wants to put you on pills (unfortunately, this scenario is more likely than the first), gently suggest that you think you may have a problem with gluten, and would like to be tested for celiac disease.

If this doctor is adamantly opposed to testing and treats you like you are mental for suggesting that, find another doctor.

Open your mouth and let your mind suggest what YOU think it may be and if you can print out anything for symptoms etc bring it with you........

Dr's are 90% stupid and the other 10% is more worried about the insurance check not getting here in time to pay for his next round of golf

Just came back from the Dr`s. I explained my symptoms and suggested that trough the research I made I might be celiac.

He has suggested blood tests and I am having them on Saturday.

I feel so relived that he seems to know what he is talking about.

Here in Malta we can have everything done free at the local hospital, so I shall first have a blood test then he will see if I need a endoscopy.

Thanks for your replies it has been a great comfort to know that I can just post and some one will answer back :D

Thank you and I am aware that I should be eating a "normal" diet until tested it's kind of been trial and error for my diet or more like just ERROR! I about 1-3 bites a meal I'm to a point that 99 percent of the time I'm having trouble swallowing just about everything occasionally I find either something or a very small window of time that allows me to get very little of something! I am basically getting zero nutrition what so ever because I take one bite of the meal that I usually just slaved over just to end up tossing it when it's all said and done...did anyone else ever experience anything like this?  I am more then open to suggestions! It is taking a very extreme toll on me and my body forsure

No! Do not start the gluten free diet until you know whether or not you will be having an endoscopy/biopsy to verify the blood antibody test results. Starting gluten free eating ahead of either form of diagnostic testing can invalidate the results. You don't want to allow the villous lining of the small bowel to experience healing ahead of testing by removing gluten.

We offer a ton of recipes here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/gluten-free-recipes/ and have done some articles on fast food places, but keep in mind that eating out is a common source of gluten contamination: https://www.celiac.com/search/?q=fast food&quick=1&type=cms_records2 Many colleges now offer allergen-friendly, and sometimes gluten-free options in their student cafeterias: https://www.celiac.com/search/?&q=colleges&type=cms_records2&quick=1&search_and_or=and&sortby=relevancy PS - Look into GliadinX, which is a sponsor here, but many studies have been done on it which show that it may break down small amounts of gluten in the stomach, before it reaches the intestines.
