  1. Poor you. You are having such a wretched time. I went through something similar. I too had terrible stomach problems and took masses of antacids. I didn't realise that they would stop me absorbing B12 and I became very deficient. Read about B12 deficiences here https://ada.com/conditions/vitamin-b12-deficiency/#faqs Symptoms include intestinal complaints...
  2. The funny thing is I put up with my bloating stomach for over 40 years and never once thought that there was anything wrong with me. I thought people with flat stomachs just had 6 packs. It was such a relief to find out it was caused by gluten and that it vanished once I went gluten free. I took advice from this forum and also went dairy free, processed food...
  3. Hi there After thinking more about the subject I realized that I also get some bloating when I eat something with sugar it. So I experimented on myself. Not good for my blood sugar but hey it's only the once. And the result is - yes, I get bloated when I eat sugar. And flatulance as well. I don't eat sugar because I'm a diabetic (in remission) and because...
  4. Hi there I too looked six months pregnant. But within 3 days of giving up gluten I had a flat stomach. It was like a miracle. But I wasn't totally gluten free, I was still eating small amounts of gluten in processed foods and still getting neurological problems. Ever since I can remember having a problem with a bloated stomach. I thought I had...
  5. Hi Knitty Kitty Following your advice I already take B1. And a B complex. Back in April when I had my seizure - which led to discovery of celiac - I was in terrible way. I couldn't walk, think or talk properly. I had no strength in my legs or arms and had no bladder control. Within 3 days of taking B12 I started being able to walk again and things...
  6. It makes me wonder how many of celiac problems are due to B12 deficiencies. My recent experience has shown me how essential it is, and how terrible you feel when you have low levels.
  7. Thanks Scott. I am very vigilant about my diet. I haven't eaten outside my home since last April and everything I eat is 100% gluten free - I am paranoid about it. No gluten is allowed in my house. But my weight has been slowly going down in the last few weeks. The only thing that has changed recently is the fact I have stopped taking B12 supplements...
  8. I have been on a really strict gluten and diary free diet since May. I cook all my own food, don’t eat processed foods and never eat out. In general I feel very healthy but if I don’t eat a high fat/protein diet I will lose weight. My BM are still very random, sometimes twice sometimes once a week. And they are pale and very stinky ( I know this is due to ...
  9. Although I'm suffering I'm actually quite glad I'm having side effects. I've been reading articles suggesting that the vaccine might not be effective in autoimmune people.
  10. I’ve just had the Pfizer vaccine. I was really worried about it. My body has always had a really strong immune response. Apparently this is normal for a celiac, we have a stronger immune systems. Whenever I get an insect bite I get a hard, red patches at least 3 inches across that are unbearably itchy and take over a week to heal. Sometimes the bites have a...
  11. I think the OP meant that it doesn't matter how high or low TTG readings are. Even if your levels are borderline the reality is that you are a celiac and that's that. Is the OP correct?
  12. Before I had my seizure in April- which I believe tipped me over into full blown celiac disease - my symptoms were mainly neurological. I did have a big bloated stomach and terrible indigestion but no problems with BM. That changed after the seizure. It was over 3 weeks until I had another BM. But I had been experiencing neurological problems before the seizure...
  13. I totally agree with you trents. I had a relative die because she refused to take drugs. You can take it too far. But we all agree on this forum that most doctors are useless at diagnosing celiac disease.
  14. I think this is a classical case of treating the symptom not cause. I remember reading somewhere that antidepressants only work where the patient is clinically depressed and it is the depression that is causing the IBS. Personally I would do anything to avoid antidepressants. They have so many side effects and are very addictive ( I have addictive personality...
  15. I may be stupid but I don't understand why someone with IBS should go on antidepressants. There was a very good show on UK tv this week postulating that depression can be cured by diet/ probiotics. I was very depressed before giving up gluten. My partner said that I was like a different person. Within 2 weeks of being gluten free he was ecstatic to have...
