1. My spouse was eating grain free when first diagnosed. To gain weight, he prioritized protein and tried to increase the amount of protein he ate each week by 5 grams. Sometimes he would put collagen in broth to get a bit more protein. It was a fair amount of work, but it did the trick. Are potatoes, turnips, parsnips options for you? Sweet potatoes?...
2. I've bought my spouse a membership to GlutenFreeWatchDog for the last several years and he's found that helpful. Mostly though, he reads Mark's Daily Apple and sticks to a real food diet. (in his case, dairy free as he is casein intolerant as well.) He likes to cook and we've both enjoyed a membership to ckbk.com
3. Here's a study talking about TTG and intestinal titers http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24773630 Clin Exp Immunol. 2014 Apr 28. doi: 10.1111/cei.12366. [Epub ahead of print] In celiac disease intestinal titers of anti-tissue transglutaminase2 antibodies positively correlate with the mucosal damage degree and inversely with the gluten-free diet...
4. What certification does the Lundberg rice have that you are interested in? Does anyone know of GIG or CSA certified rices (the grain, not rice flour or products) Shiloh farms say they are working on getting certified http://www.shilohfarms.com/certified-gluten-free/
5. Thank you very much for clarifying! It sounds like the Anti-TTG could be used for follow-up (where the person's blood work has always been negative) whereas the other test doesn't provide useful info. They now offer tests for a wider range of foods and I have no idea if those tests make any sense, but if they set the sensitivity too low,...
6. The stool anti-TTG is a better test for celiac, but I haven't seen many people on the board come up with anti-TTG from Enterolab Do you mean to say that you haven't seen many positive results from Enterolab on this particular test? Is this the test you are talking about - Fecal Antitissue Transglutaminase IGA Why is this test better...
7. http://www.cyrexlabs.com/CyrexTestsArrays/tabid/136/Default.aspx this lab has a wide array of gluten sensitivity tests. Aristo Vojdani is part of this company. He has some research on ataxia also Dr. Hadjivassiliou, a neurologist in the UK.
8. 5Fast food - 5 guys - they only thing on their menu - french fries. I've been told that the fryer is not necessarily dedicated at nice restaurants too - Cantina Laredo - which lists tortilla chips on the gluten free menu. But the wait staff told me that they might throw in a wheat chip every so often. I've written Cantina Laredo, but no response.
