  1. It could have been my computer playing up at the time too. I'll give it another go But what is the go with running out of letters in the comment box? It's annoying to have to retype your last sentence, lol!
  2. so I don't really know what's ahead yet.

You're right, this is a lovely community. We are lucky to have found it.

And I saw your post in the 'kids selling gluten' thread. Crazy! Lol!

  3. Hi there. I'm not diagnosed yet. I've had blood tests done and will be getting those results on Monday. But I'm off gluten in the meantime because my throat started swelling and my doctor didn't want me to risk it. I think regardless of the results I'll stay gluten free, but he may refer me to a Gastroenterologist,

  4. You are an amazing person to have on this forum Raven. You are a voice of comfort and reassurance for people who are new here. I really value your knowledge and patience to answer the same questions over and over. You understand the questions are new to those who ask them. I am so glad there is joy in your life again in the form of someone small and furry...
  5. Oh hun, what a rollercoaster! It's such a shame you weren't told of your diagnosis in 2004! Yes, you need to stay on gluten if you want further testing, but I'm hoping your new doctor just looks at the results and says celiac straight away. The sooner you can be gluten-free the better. You have suffered needlessly for so long. That is just so wrong.
  6. Oh, your poor boy That must have been scary. Well I got a response from Don ham today They're actually Don KR Castlemaine (I didn't realise they're all the same company!). They said they are unable to provide a list of gluten free products and I should consult the ingredients on the package That does not help me when I specifically told them...
  7. I sent you a message the other day...didn't it go through? I selected message under your profile pic so I wouldn't get cut off!!! How have you been? I'm happy it's the weekend and hubby is home. We're heading out to do some exploring! Just of our local area but we are going down a dirt road so it should be fun! Doctor's appointment Monday to get my re...

  8. Be glad You may find your answer! I haven't had an endo, but from what I've heard, they're quick and easy. Good luck xxx
  9. mushroom!! That's how I may have ended up being glutened by the ham. It's really not something you think about when you don't have to. Many people are just so oblivious to what celiac is and that you can get sick from CC. I really think that all staff working in the hospitality industry where food is involved should undergo a course that explains allergies...
  10. Well I get my test results back in 5 days. I'm so glad. I just wanted to add another symptom to my growing list so I can refer to this thread when I need to. This morning I had a BM (floating as usual) and for the first time I noticed some oily residue floating on top of the water in the toilet. It was clear but had white streaks and specks in it. I have...
  11. Hi and welcome Yes, your symptoms sound consistent with celiac. I think it would be worth seeing your doctor and getting tested. Don't go gluten free before the testing though, you need gluten in your system to achieve a positive diagnosis. Don't let the fact no one else in your family has been diagnosed with celiac. You may be the first, but it doesn't...
  12. I also think you could have celiac. While you're still eating gluten (even though you feel unwell) I would get the testing done to try and find out. If it all comes out negative, there's nothing stopping you from going gluten free anyway. But if you go gluten free before any testing is done it will affect your results. Let us know how you go!
  13. Yes, most definitely wait until all testing is done!! Your symptoms sound very much like celiac, so I hope you get a diagnosis from your endo. Ask them to also do a colonoscopy at the same time to rule out any other issues. And with your endoscopy, ask them to take 8-11 biopsies to minimize the risk of missing something! Good luck with it all x
  14. Hi there It sounds like it could possibly be hormone related. Your description makes me think of a menopausal type situation, but I'm not sure how old you are. It might be worth mentioning hormones to your doctor and see what they say. Do you get any other digestive type problems that might be suggestive of a gluten intolerance? What your describing doesn...
  15. And your post just made me go wow PP. One of my children is extremely sensitive to noise. I had just put it down to her being 3, but she gets hysterical if she has to have a shower (but a bath is fine), she bursts into tears if a game get noisy etc. I'll watch her a bit more closely I think. Obviously if I'm diagnosed I'll get all my kids tested, but will...
  16. It definitely sounds like something that causes stress to the body can make celiac symptoms surface. Whether it's emotional stress, stress caused by medications, stress caused by surgery, or an illness. Maybe at that point, especially if your body has been giving you 'signs' something is wrong your whole life, it just gets angry at you and says "Hello!...
  17. diandliam, I've never seen anything. I've found the forum very helpful and supportive though, and this section for people outside the US has a few Aussies in it
  18. Yep Cougie, I think the risk of CC at a restaurant is not one I'm willing to take.

  23. I had symptoms my whole life, but thought it was just normal. The big trigger that something was wrong was after my divorce to my first husband. The stress associated with that and working out child custody etc made me break out in what I believe was DH and a whole host of other stuff that has continued in varying degrees of severity for the last 6 years...
  24. I will be so glad when I don't turn around in circles in my kitchen anymore, trying to remember which cupboard something is in!
