It wasn't Blue Bell ice cream was it? They've Open Original Shared Link all of their ice cream because of listeria contamination.

ARCHIVED How Strict Do I Need To Be With My Diet?C-Girl replied to von's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I understand many here have symptoms with very small traces, but celiac disease isn't always just about gluten. There can be other intolerances at work - dairy, soy, corn, legumes, nuts... And really, even non-celiac people have issues from time to time. Scientific studies that fed various amounts of gluten to celiacs and measured changes to the villi put...

ARCHIVED My Celiac Disease Is Causing Stressful Family ConflictC-Girl replied to Coolclimates's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease After my diagnosis, my first trip back to visit the family began with me coming straight from the airport, having not eaten all day (or for a few weeks, really - I hadn't figured out what to eat yet) and being greeted with a pizza dinner. Oh, but they got me a sad, sad gluten-free pizza which I couldn't eat because I was off dairy, too. Not that I would have...

	Thanks Bart (hug) back.

Thanks bm - it's not embarrassment. It's fury. I've been struggling since September 2013 with this, trying to figure out what I can and can't eat after going 47 years never having a single problem eating anything until this suddenly all hit me. I've eliminated dairy, soy, fresh fruit and vegetables, nuts, nightshades and now, thinking I'd discovered another...

I'm so SO so so so ANGRY at myself! I am an IDIOT!!! After badgering the few restaurants I go to to make sure my meal is gluten free, after reading every f$#%ing label in the entire grocery store, I have been continuing to use this Open Original Shared Link from time to time. I got it at the local tienda, and I swear to christ that I read the ingredients...

ARCHIVED Celiacs And Cholesterol?C-Girl replied to C-Girl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease I got my results back, finally - it turns out my bad cholesterol is down 10 pts since the last check, and my good cholesterol is up 9. So I guess all that bacon isn't a bad thing after all. Indeed, it's a "whole food", right?! I'm definitely not getting enough calcium but my supplements don't agree with me AT ALL. Chalky diarrhea, no bueno. Does anyone have...

Oh I have treats I like enough, it was more the dream itself than a real craving. Last night I dreamed I was told I'd been sleep-eating, going out to fast food places and eating gluten and not knowing it, and that was why I was still having issues. I wish it was really that simple. I'd definitely prefer being locked in my room at night to never knowing...

I had this vivid, very vivid dream. I was in a ethnic food festival, and was at an exhibit where they were demonstrating how crackers were made in various countries throughout history. I could taste the delicious buttery goodness of the samples that were still warm. The crunch, the mix of air and grain that simulates fat, the light saltiness. Then, in a panic...

ARCHIVED Celiacs And Cholesterol?C-Girl posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease Have any of you seen your cholesterol go up after going gluten free? I hate to keep complaining about my doctors here, but I just can't help it. Are they all complete idiots or do I just have really high standards?? I saw my GP for a physical, I wanted specifically to make sure the limited diet I have to have because of celiac and microscopic colitis...

ARCHIVED Diarrhea For Over A Month While Gluten Free?C-Girl replied to Firsttimemama2014's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease Hey Firsttimemama, I hope the Pepto did the trick for you and continues to work. But you should be aware that microscopic colitis is very common in us celiacs, and they dont' really know why. Some suspect it's another immune reaction, some suspect it's food intolerances - lactose and gluten are the most common, but soy and fructose intolerances can also trigger...

ARCHIVED Is It Time For Yet Another Gastroenterologist?C-Girl replied to C-Girl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease Thanks - the side effects were abnormal menstrual cycles, which I didn't see with Uceris. The budesonide is supposedly absorbed more into the bloodstream than the Uceris formulation, and Uceris also works farther down the GI tract which is where I need it. The PDF that RMJ posted shows very little side effects even after 12 months straight use, so I don't...

ARCHIVED Is It Time For Yet Another Gastroenterologist?C-Girl posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease It's been 16 months since my diagnosis with celiac disease, and I'm still struggling, as are many of us. I'm on my third gastroenterologist. I haven't had any follow up blood work done in a year (I was way down on the celiac panel a year ago) and have no follow up endoscopy in sight. Is this normal? I also have microscopic colitis, and the GI had me on...

ARCHIVED "gluten Free" Creperie A Charade?C-Girl replied to C-Girl's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants I've put a review up on FMGF. IT's the Creperie and Cafe in Weaverville, NC.

I went on a brief getaway weekend with the hubs this weekend, and we stayed in a place with a kitchen so I could have safe food. But when we got there I googled a bit and found a nearby crepe restaurant that purported itself to be 100% gluten free. I decided we should patronize the place just because! We went, I had some crepes, they were decent enough....

I've read that tinnitus can be caused by a vitamin b12 deficiency. But my blood levels were fine in 2013 when my celiac was first diagnosed, so maybe it's just too much loud music. Apparently it's not physical damage, it's something in the brain, so maybe instead of brain fog I get ringing ears. I haven't felt that foggy, only tired and a little weepy, though...

Well I've done it. I've been glutened. Although I've been exceedingly careful with restaurants, I went to a Korean place I trust - the owner herself spoke to me at length about the measures they take to ensure their gluten-free items are gluten-free - and choose poorly. In the past I'd always ordered items that had little chance of being mixed up with gluten...

I had good luck with the nutritionist when I was first getting started, but I'd been having a ton of problems which I found out later were due to microscopic colitis in addition to the celiac disease. A lot of the nutritionist's advice was geared toward eliminating symptoms, not fighting fatigue. I'd see your GP to get your blood tested for your vitamin levels...

ARCHIVED I Don't Want Celiacs AnymoreC-Girl replied to justjess22's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Justjess22: you lived on a boat and sailed the world! You're adventurous! Embrace this as another challenge. You can do it, you've already proven it. Just think about how your little brother was transformed from sickly to healthy, and keep that image in your mind. It's very important that you heal now and stay gluten free, because the older you get, the longer...

ARCHIVED Almost 1 Year, Which Anniversary Should I Celebrate?C-Girl replied to C-Girl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I've decided that today, the day that one year ago the doctor called to inform me of my positive blood tests and I stopped eating gluten is my anniversary. It's an appropriate day - SCARY! Boo! Gluten! I don't think I'll be going with my original plan of trying a gluten free pizza from Mellow Mushroom, since it will probably be a big disappointment. Ditto...

ARCHIVED Almost 1 Year, Which Anniversary Should I Celebrate?C-Girl replied to C-Girl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease There will be cupcakes! I think I should just celebrate every day for the next month I'm not sure that would help me become symptom-free, however...

ARCHIVED Almost 1 Year, Which Anniversary Should I Celebrate?C-Girl posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Trying to choose which day I get to celebrate my 1 year anniversary with this diagnosis: the date my blood work came back, the day I went gluten-free, the day of my biopsy results confirming it or ... the last time I actually consumed gluten (intentionally or unintentionally)? Now, to celebrate a symptom-free anniversary? That might be another year or...

Hi Kmp - you're young. You have not yet learned that employers will take everything they can from you and not care when it comes to firing you if they want to. So you should ask yourself why you care so much what this boss thinks? If you have to quit for your health, and it very much sounds like you need to and should, the only thing you need to do is give...

ARCHIVED Do The Bread Cravings Ever Go Away?C-Girl replied to Booklover15's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease Y'all! Gluten free bread is SO EASY to make. It's way, way easier than wheat bread because you don't have to get the kneading just right. You just beat the crap out of it with a mixer, pour it in a pan, let it rise and bake! Voila! Yummy, safe to eat, delicious bread. You don't have to miss bread, you just have to store it a little differently.
