ARCHIVED Gluten free makeup
Beverage replied to Lesza's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use Andalou shampoo, body wash, and body lotions, absolutely wonderful stuff, I ask Santa for it as my Christmas present. Afterglow cosmetics (a lot like Bare Minerals which I had used for eons but does not guarantee gluten free). Also Red Apple Lipstick...I just tried their mascara and I absolutely love it, not gloppy. These are verified or... -
ARCHIVED Thyroid problems - maybe?
Beverage replied to JaneWhoLovesRain's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I also went through a discussion (that's mildly putting it) with my doctor who refused to do the complete thyroid panel. My TSH test came back on the low end of normal, but I had all the typical symptoms. There are plenty of good articles out there about the full panel and why it is important. You definately need a different doctor. Only testing for... -
ARCHIVED Just diagnosed, but maybe a misdiagnosis?
Beverage replied to CoopCoop's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I mean I might get a prescription refill, or a new vitamin pill for example, and take it for awhile, with absolutely no symptoms. As we know, no symptoms does not mean no damage being done. I will feel fine for weeks, but then I start feeling awful, like a bad flu coming on. I never did get the intestinal symptoms others get. This for me is the... -

Ennis_TX, can you please post a link to that deficiency chart? I can't read it even when enlarged. Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Help! Still sick
Beverage replied to Jherm21's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had the candida test done via a blood test, testing for antibodies, as it can be in many places in your body and a huge burden to the immune system. -

ARCHIVED Just diagnosed, but maybe a misdiagnosis?
Beverage replied to CoopCoop's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I went to a naturopath because of gradually decreasing kidney function and was diagnosed with Celiac's. For me, when I get accidentally glutened, I don't get symptoms until I've had that gluten for awhile, like several weeks. Then, I start feeling like I've got a bad flu coming on. Everybody is different. It's not like an allergy where symptoms are a direct... -
ARCHIVED Back from ER
Beverage replied to Washingtonmama's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You say that you are involved in frying foods? Is there any loose flour involved in that? Airborne flour gets into the nose which drains down to the stomach, so same as eating it. Hope you get better soon, it is so very very frustrating trying to figure out where the gluten is coming from. -
ARCHIVED Do I need the biopsy?
Beverage replied to lngmk's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Also remember that a negative in celiac tests, especially the biopsy, is NOT CONCLUSIVE, is NOT PROOF YOU DO NOT HAVE IT. -
ARCHIVED Do I need the biopsy?
Beverage replied to lngmk's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The biopsy is not required for an official diagnosis. Positive blood test and response to gluten free diet is all that is required. It was sufficient for me, along with the DNA test (shows potential only), to convince me what I need to do to stay healthy.I have a "prescription" letter for gluten free diet from my doctor based on those things. And pre... -
ARCHIVED Pc Free From Hot Dogs
Beverage replied to Abungay's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I found a decent gluten free hot dog in the health food section of my Fred Meyer's in Washington state. It's Organic Prairie brand, grass fed, free of icky stuff, and it actually tastes like beef. Maybe you can find the web site and see where they are sold near you. -
ARCHIVED Lab Results Help
Beverage replied to cdwiggy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
For me, gluten was causing severe systemic inflammation, which is hard on the kidneys. So getting rid of the root cause had an effect. Sad thing is not too many doctors see the connections. -

I tested positive on the antibody test, declining kidney function being what I had gone to a naturopath for. I did not want to do the endoscopy, so did a trial of the gluten free diet. I felt like a truck hit me for about a month, like a bad flu coming on, as tons of inflammation left my body. I was not terribly overweight, but lost it all in that month... -
ARCHIVED Different gluten foods give different reactions?
Beverage replied to BarryC's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
BarryC ... I have celiac's and didn't get my knickers in a twist!!! If I did, I'd probably trip and fall flat on my face and have other problems to worry about. Don't worry about it, we're here to help. If I get accidentally glutened, I do not get the intestional issues, but I do get some good body and bone aches. If I can't figure out what's causing... -
ARCHIVED No increase in intraepithelial lymphocytes
Beverage replied to Divergent's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My understanding about the antibody blood test is that the amount of a positive result is not indicative of anything...higher does not mean definately have celiac's and lower does not mean could possibly not have it. My doc told me that anything a little above 0 is the same as a big response, it just depends on the person how much antibody they will produce... -
ARCHIVED Question About Gliadin Iga Result
Beverage replied to Galixie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I may be wrong but sounds like you are searching for some way that you do not have celiac's and can maybe once in awhile or some day in the future, eat it again some day. Maybe the rash isn't so bad, or it goes away after awhile, or the dizzy isn't so bad, i'll just be careful. Well please do not underestimate that these are really the minor side effects... -
About the hives ... When I do my annual skin prick allergy testing, fungus is always my worst thing. The only time I've gotten hives is when I have had something else going on to do with fungus. One time Athlete's foot, thanks to a roomie bringing it home, and I had hives for 6 months every night until I could finally get rid of the problem. And it...

ARCHIVED Vitamin and nutritional issues
Beverage replied to Jherm21's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Whichever supplements you do choose, please read the label carefully. The only times I've gotten glutened since diagnosis almost 2 years ago is taking vitamins labeled "gluten free" but missed the very small fine print about them being produced in a facility that also processed wheat or other allergens. I've learned to stay away from those vits as they do... -
ARCHIVED Sunscreen - gluten-free and Soy free?
Beverage replied to apprehensiveengineer's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Andalou products are verified gluten free. I do not see a body sunscreen on their site, but I do use their facial sunscreens. Everything I've tried is super good quality, concentrated, use very little. -
ARCHIVED celiac, muscle weakness, bone aches, fatigue... im lost.
Beverage replied to white-star's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks, Gemini. I don't know what the ND has planned for me yet, appointment is next week. I had a MD functional guy, loved him but the insurance hardly covered anything with him because he was out of network, and I got laid off and cannot handle that expense. Tried a few other docs and could not find anybody that wasn't old school, so ended up the ND route... -
ARCHIVED celiac, muscle weakness, bone aches, fatigue... im lost.
Beverage replied to white-star's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yup, did the test. I have mercury toxicity. The amalgam is CRACKED as I said, also a fine crack in the tooth itself. So unless it's coming from some other source (no I rarely eat tuna or other typical sources), then I'm gonna bet it's the tooth. You're right about the low thyroid. I have been diagnosed with it, and am being treated for it. The synthetic... -
ARCHIVED celiac, muscle weakness, bone aches, fatigue... im lost.
Beverage replied to white-star's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi there. Could be something else going on. I was diagnosed with Celiac's almost 2 years ago, started feeling a lot better after a few months of going gluten free ... dropped 30 lbs, sense of smell returned, could breathe through nose again, lots of improvement, serious mood improvement. Then slowly it seemed I was going backwards, lots of aches, thyroid... -
ARCHIVED Tried out my new Nima sensor
Beverage replied to tessa25's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Andalou skin care products are super good quality and CERTIFIED gluten free. Their stuff is very concentrated, so you don't need much and it lasts longer than you think. I use their "Age Defying" products. I'm 60 and people think I'm in my early 40's. They're shocked when they find out my age, and I don't think they are just being nice, it's the super...
