  1. Yes I understand. I went through all that also. It's a good idea, but my experience was that the only thing the pulmonologist prescribed did not help me and only hurt me, as albuterol and all the steroids do to anybody, but it's all these doctors know how to prescribe. And the root cause was never addressed after seeing this specialist for over a...
  2. Yes, Ronnie D, I understand. I read it that way. I'm just saying that Joepilk's symptoms could be root cause from other things that traditional doctors do not even investigate. I'm just giving example of my experience this past year and more, so that he has an example of how it can be caused from something else and only treating the symptoms does not do...
  3. Yes, albuterol is what I was prescribed for the asthma part of my symptoms, which was aggrevated by exertion. Albuterol is an easy thing to take, but also has side effects that you should not just think are not a big deal...besides the systemic side effects of inhaling epinephrine, and something that the way it works is to shut down your immune system...
  4. Another thing to consider ... there is information out there that symptoms that the root cause for some of symptoms like a cold, sore throat (typically a dry cough), or allergies be related to gastric issues, acid reflux, GERD, or silent reflux. I had asthma/wheezing and stuffed nose, loss of sense of smell, and dry throat, voice that would get creaky...
  5. I recommend never eating anything processed unless it is marked Gluten Free at a minimum, and Certified Gluten Free is much much better. I haven't had problems since I was more strict in what I buy, my last blood test was almost 0 in gluten antibodies. I was surprised to figure out that I was having problems with pickles and relishes, No obvious...
  6. Mine were super high like that and I decided to go without the biopsy, as it does have its risks and can miss the damage entirely and leaves you in limbo if negative. I also got the DNA test (for me mentally to commit to being gluten free) which showed positive on HLA-DQB1*02 (I was negative on the more common DQ2 & 8). I'm not sure how it is in the...
  7. If you do try beer, remember to check that it is beer not made with any gluten ingredients ... i.e., GLUTEN REMOVED IS NOT OK for those with Celiac's. If you can get it in your area, Ghostfish is my favorite, certified gluten free and even tastes good to those that don't have to be gluten free.
  8. I also agree that the food journal would be really helpful for you. I had a few foods that bothered me until I healed a little more, which I can eat now, but it's good to know in case you have problems in the future. I found this cute little journal on amazon (hope it's ok to post the link): https://www.amazon.com/Gluten-Free-Zone-Everywhere-Allergies/dp...
  9. If you get the DNA test, be sure all celiac genotypes are included in the test, not all of them include anything other than DQ2 and 8, but that's not all that can get you Celiac's Disease. I tested negative for DQ2 and 8, but positive on HLA-DQB1*02 which is a much lower chance of developing the disease, but I developed it anyway. I got my test done through...
  10. Hi. You need a separate lid, much more important than a separate pot.
  11. But seriously, it's very very difficult to keep your kitchen safe when gluten is going on. Besides all the other contamination issues, no gluten flour should be used in the air space that the Celiac would be in. Why not just get the InstaPot and only use it for gluten free cooking. Most things you would cook in it (I just made a whole chicken last...
  12. Food prepared in other people's gluten kitchens is NOT SAFE if you have Celiac's. Salads or veggies, any of that, can all be contaminated from their counter, their utensils, wooden spoons, non-stick cooking pans, their hands, any ingredients they used in make gluten containing food. If they taste what they have made and use the spoon again...I know...but...
  13. Eyes ears nose and mouth all lead to the gut. Breathing in airborne flour through the nose or mouth get that flour to the same place as eating it. This is NOT an allergic reaction if you have Celiac's disease. Allergies to gluten can be developed, but it's different response of the immune system than Celiac's which is an auto-immune (body attacks itself...
  14. ravenwoodglass is correct. I tested negative for the DQ2 & 8 genes, but positive on one of the others.. B1 or something like that. Make sure the complete genetic thing was done, not all doctors request them all and not all labs check them all.
  15. I'm a big fan of eggs, great protein for the brain and especially for young kids. Make a bunch of little egg cups using a muffin tin (one that has never seen gluten of course), and store them in the freezer that you can get out and microwave real quick. Spray cup with olive oil, a little gluten-free ham or turkey bacon or something like that, crack...
  16. Are you cooking or using gluten in your kitchen? I didn't feel better until we cut it out completely from the kitchen. I let my boyfriend have a gluten beer at the table, but nothing more. We tried marking condiment jars in the fridge but mistakes happened, too easy to dip into that mayo after touching gluten bread. He was trying to be super careful,...
  17. I love oatmeal too, but it reacts in my body the same as wheat rye or barley. I tried many brands of the certified and cleanest and all that, all the same. To me, not worth the risk, the protein is too similar to the other bad guys.
  18. Hi. I've never heard that high white blood counts are an indication of autoimmune diseases... is that true???
  19. Usually I drink green tea, but I drink coffee about once a week and have not had any issues. I don't know if any coffee brands might contain gluten for flavoring, but if you are using a coffee maker previously used, make sure it has only been used for plain coffee or with coffee you can make sure was gluten free. Also I have read that the glue on the lids...
  20. LilyR, the bottle works like the nedi pot, the saline water goes in one nostril and comes out the other. If your sinuses are plugged, it can drain down to your mouth (instead of out the other nostril). But you do this with your head bent over the sink with your mouth slightly open anyway, so anything that doesn't make the round trip comes out your mouth...
  21. I order from nuts.com all the time. They have a lot available in their gluten free section. The nuts are really really fresh, you won't realize how not fresh other nuts have been until you get these. I love them, I ask for them as a gift for Christmas and birthday. I order enough to get me free delivery and store the extra in the freezer. Delivery is...
  22. I can't take any steroid based things of any kind, including the nasal sprays, they all give me high blood pressure and mess with my beauty sleep. To get started on the nedi pot, you could first try the Neilmed Nasamist Saline Spray. https://www.amazon.com/Neilmed-Nasamist-Saline-Spray-Fluid/dp/B00I8NKNZ8/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=15360147...
  23. Find that article that was in one of these emails a little while back. It was about getting glutened as little as once a month gets you a 40,000 times more chance of colon cancer. Is that what you are striving for?
  24. Hi. I'm a diagnosed celiac. I don't get symptoms unless I've eaten gluten for awhile. I had tried gluten free oats (which are not always gluten free enough or the protein is similar enough to wheat rye and barley to cause the same reaction in some) against my doctor's advice, and it took about a month. My doctor explained that no symptoms does not mean...
  25. I tried Bob's Red Mill gluten-free oats and had problems. I also tried the best certified gluten-free oats, and had problems with them too. I'm one that cannot eat oats, some celiac's cannot. The protein strand is very similar to the other bad ones, so the body just acts the same. I now follow my doctor's orders that he gave me before I thought I could...
