Brands of Gluten-Free Pickles
Wheatwacked commented on Jefferson Adams's article in Gluten-Free Foods & Beverages
Batampt brand, like Bubbies is a naturally fermented Kosher Dill. While I think Bubbies has a bit of heat in the spices, Batampt does not. Good sources of Lactobacillus, beneficial bacteria for your gut and may help Lactose Intolerance.- 2 comments

Urinary symptoms?
Wheatwacked replied to NFecht24's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Eating SAD (standard ameican diet) has inherent dietary deficiencies. That is why most of the processed foods have fortification of essential nutrients. When you start eating gluten free, you no longer are being fortified. You have to get them from real food or supplemental vitamins and minerals. Here are two that are commonly insufficient that you... -

"In general, eicosanoids derived from n-6 PUFA are proinflammatory while eicosanoids derived from n-3 PUFA are anti-inflammatory. Dietary changes over the past few decades in the intake of n-6 and n-3 PUFA show striking increases in the (n-6) to (n-3) ratio (~15 : 1)" Health Implications of High Dietary Omega-6 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids Tomato, on... -
Hi Steve76, You have been dealing with the stomach issue overtly for 12 years and I do not doubt when you heal you will realize symptoms you were told were normal part of growing up were caused by gluten. A major effect of Celiac Disease on our bodies is Celiac malabsorption syndrome and from the results you've posted, it has affected...

Some members have said that they react to kissing.someone who has recently eaten gluten. Have you seen a doctor recently? Any medications? Do you have recent blood tests for vitamin D, homocysteine, vitamin B12, folate? Assuming the doctors don't know what is wrong, vitamin deficiencies are likely. Try taking lots of vitamin D, Thiamine and Choline...

The short answer is Yes. To be diagnosed officially by biopsy you need Marsh 3 damage. You have Marsh 2. Also, you have been avoiding gluten for years. You need to be actively eating gluten for it to affect you. That's what makes diagnosing it so complicated. For a gluten tolerance challenge to be accurate you need to be...

Has anyone here had perianal DH?
Wheatwacked replied to newtonfree's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
It was actually developed for patients who are diagnosed with Refractory Celiac. The idea I think is to remove all sources of contamination. Start worse case senario and it will get easier. Like 40 years in the desert. I think do it for a month, get a baseline and add your foods back as you tolerate. When my just weaned son was diagnosed (biopsy) in... -
Has anyone here had perianal DH?

Stick to the foods on this list for a while. Products allowed/disallowed in the Gluten Contamination Elimination Diet. Sorry but millet is first in the do not eat chart. Folic Acid, Vitamin A, and Vitamin E, potassium are best gotten from whole foods. They have been inked to increased cancer over placebo. Why take the chance? One example: Keeping... -
Hi Corali, welcome This is an older thread but it is interesting to read what was current thought then. Choline is an essential vitamin. It makes up mitochondrial membrane, the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, is the major component of Bile, so deficiency can cause gallstones, gall bladder disease. Diffeciency of choline causes Non Alcoholic...

Has anyone here had perianal DH?
Wheatwacked replied to newtonfree's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Hi newtonfree. Welcome the the forum. "Good" story. Happy ending. There is lots of info on DH in posts, blogs and articles. I like to think of it as a lifelong challange to avoid being poisoned. Is smoking a disease or poison? Same kind of thing. Not smoking AND avoiding second hand smoke (cross contamination). In disclosure I still smoke a pack a day... -

Make sure you are are getting enough iodine in your diet. Why a water pill? It what they would use for congestive heart falilure. Try supplementing Choline 500 mg a day, or phoshatidyl choline for digestion issues and brain fog. Deficient choline is ofter mistaken for gall bladder disease because most of the salts in bile is choline. May help brain fog because of low acetylcholine. Low vitamin D can cause anxiety. Could we be overlooking a potential choline crisis in the United...

Sorry to hear about your dad and relatives. If you plan on getting a medical diagnosis you should do so before starting gluten free. Here are some starter links about iodine. The RDA is set at 125 micrograms (0.125 mg or 0.000125 grams). Safe upper limit in US is set at 1 gram, in Japan at 3 grams. Iodine was used in medicine until the Wolff...

I was an alcoholic for thirty years. A friend of Bill's. I started GFD at 63. The addiction disappeared immediately. I found I no longer cared to drink. did not like what it did to me, and there was no jonesing. I can drink socially without binging afterwards, but prefer to not drink. If your dad is alive, exhort him to try gluton free for a month. Don...
