Mom Cooked Wheat..

My mom just finished cooking the wheat for xmas (just for her and dad to eat, not even for the whole family haha) and she was bugging me if I want to taste some. I said ya sure, if you want to kill me :lol: At least I got a good laugh out of it...but it honestly smelled like s*** :P .

Now hopefully DURING xmas the rest of my family doesn't seriously ask me if I want any. I kinda hate it when it gets passed around the table with the bowls and well...I'm the only one with an empty bowl.

Anyone else not like seeing it??

Well my mom in that sense is extra careful, she doesn't want me to be near her table when she's cooking with flour because she's scared I might inhale some flour, but it does bother me when there's something that has gluten and that I know is really yummy and I can't have it, for example bread rolls that smell so wonderful and I have to sit and watch everyone eat them, I don't even bother taking my own bread because its not nearly as good and since i have o watch my carbs because of diabetes i would rather get my carbs from something other than gluten-free bread, but yeah I definitely miss the good bread.

I wouldnt know what the wheat salad tastes like because...I've never ate it and obviously am not about to now :P Just seeing alot of it kinda bugs me after awhile, especially if we celebrate both christmas-es

I so understand what you are saying!!! My MIL has been living us for just about 14 weeks... (can't wait for her to get her own place) and she just doesn't get it. I had Christmas dinner and snacks all planned out.. and she went and ordered a bunch of stuff that I cannot even eat!!! and I have to figure out where to put it all!! She ordered some kind of meat wrapped in philo dough, a ton of pastries (looks way to dry to me anyway) cheese cackes.. scones, and I just don't remember what else!! But needless to say I didn't put any of her stuff out, and my husband supported me... because we had already planned what WE were serving at our house, and she just can't over rule us!! She even opend on of the boxes of pastries in front of me and offered me some, and I said no thank you it will make me sick, she rolled her eyes, and said "oh I am sorry"

I think she is secretly trying to poison me hee hee... JK!!

LOL! I know what you mean. We had a big dinner at my Aunts on Christmas Eve. We had our own safe food, but there was lots of gluten food. My aunt made my favorite rolls from pre- gluten-free days, and she burned them! I just smiled a little because I felt better knowing I wouldn't be missing anything!

      You have an odd story there. To me, the mechanical trigger suggests a mechanical problem and lower leg pain is a classic sciatica symptom. The fact that the clear mechanical linkage is no longer there does not take away from the fact that it was - maybe something shifted and the simple alignment is no longer there. There's also a good chance I am wrong and...

      Oddly this effect has gone now, just happened yesterday evening, the nerve pain is now back to its usual "unpredictable" random self again - but that was the only time I ever had some mechanical trigger for it, don't know why! There's no (or wasn't) actual pain in my neck - it was inside the leg, but when I looked down, now though, the leg pain just comes...

      I had MRI scan a few years ago showing everything normal, and now it's no longer triggering the nerve pain when I bow my head today - it only seemed to happen yesterday, and that was the only time it happened! Just seemed weird as no movement has caused my usual nerve pain before. It's normally just random.

      This hypothesis certainly lines up with my experience. Avoided getting Covid until August 2022. Celiac diagnosis three months later, and they think they caught it early (not a ton of damage in my EGD). I'd suspected the connection before, so it's nice to see researchers are interested in this question.

There's also a good chance I am wrong and it's something else entirely. @Scott Adams's mention of shingles is interesting. It seems possible but unlikely to me, but who knows. However, I am writing here to reinforce the idea of getting the shingles vaccine. Ask anyone who has ever had shingles and they will bend your ear telling you how bad it is. I watched my wife go through it and it scared the bejeebers out of me. Even if you had the chicken pox vaccine, you really want to get the shingles vaccine.

      Very good pizzeria with small dining room in back of the restaurant. The owner's daughter has celiac & they have gluten free pizza & a gluten free menu. Some items from the regular menu can be made gluten free also. They have a lunch menu which we ordered from & my chicken with spinach & mozzarella over gluten-free penne was delicious. They also have Tuesday night pasta specials & Thursday night chicken pasta specials. We plan on going back for dinner soon.
