Chrones Disease And Celiac?

Okay so when the doctor called to discuss my endoscopy results (for celiac) he mentioned that some of my intestines was showing potential signs of crohnes disease too.. i have to see him tuesday and they are going to take my blood and test it for crohnes (sorry if im spelling it wrong.)

has anybody been told this before and did you have it- im really scared and im just new to celiac let alone something else in ADDITION to it all.

Help please. I dont know what to think/feel

Yes, it is not unusual. On the bright side, a gluten-free diet is known to greatly help Chrohn's disease as well, not just celiac disease.

Nancy, your link leads to something completely other than that study!

Hello

I understand you are feeling wierd but please try to keep your head up.....A friend of mine has that crohne disease (since she was 10 years old and now she is 24). Ok she is not very happy, sometimes she had big trouble, but she is doing ok most of the time. Not just ok....she is a beautiful girl, she is studying to become a doctor (....), having fun, doing sports and all the stuff a young healthy person is supposed to do. And she is always smiling....no problems at all . She is taking her medicine, eating what she has to eat, going to her doctor regularly...I am not trying to tell you that it is not a difficult disease. It is a very difficult one, but it is ok....Try to think positive untill you get those reslults, and if they are not the ones you are expecting we are here to support you. Try to think of all those people who have diseases that can't be treated.....I know it's difficult but just try that...I am going to have a biopsy (hope next week) to see if there is cancer in my intestine. I am not telling you that to make you feel bad or to piity me. I am feeling strong and even if that's the case I am going to fight it. Just keep in mind that crohnes is somthing you can live with. I hope everything is ok with you (and with me...!!!!!)

That's life....take care ok???

      You have an odd story there. To me, the mechanical trigger suggests a mechanical problem and lower leg pain is a classic sciatica symptom. The fact that the clear mechanical linkage is no longer there does not take away from the fact that it was - maybe something shifted and the simple alignment is no longer there. There's also a good chance I am wrong and...

      Oddly this effect has gone now, just happened yesterday evening, the nerve pain is now back to its usual "unpredictable" random self again - but that was the only time I ever had some mechanical trigger for it, don't know why! There's no (or wasn't) actual pain in my neck - it was inside the leg, but when I looked down, now though, the leg pain just comes...

      I had MRI scan a few years ago showing everything normal, and now it's no longer triggering the nerve pain when I bow my head today - it only seemed to happen yesterday, and that was the only time it happened! Just seemed weird as no movement has caused my usual nerve pain before. It's normally just random.

      This hypothesis certainly lines up with my experience. Avoided getting Covid until August 2022. Celiac diagnosis three months later, and they think they caught it early (not a ton of damage in my EGD). I'd suspected the connection before, so it's nice to see researchers are interested in this question.

There's also a good chance I am wrong and it's something else entirely. @Scott Adams's mention of shingles is interesting. It seems possible but unlikely to me, but who knows. However, I am writing here to reinforce the idea of getting the shingles vaccine. Ask anyone who has ever had shingles and they will bend your ear telling you how bad it is. I watched my wife go through it and it scared the bejeebers out of me. Even if you had the chicken pox vaccine, you really want to get the shingles vaccine.

      Very good pizzeria with small dining room in back of the restaurant. The owner's daughter has celiac & they have gluten free pizza & a gluten free menu. Some items from the regular menu can be made gluten free also. They have a lunch menu which we ordered from & my chicken with spinach & mozzarella over gluten-free penne was delicious. They also have Tuesday night pasta specials & Thursday night chicken pasta specials. We plan on going back for dinner soon.
