Hi, I've had very good, safe meals at Ruby Teusday's in Bangor... they would likely have them in Portland too? The staff weren't familiar with gluten-free living, however they were very thorough, broght me seasoning bottles so I could read ingredients etc.

Most restaurants need to be "educated" to begin with, but if you find one you like and is willing to work with you, you'll always have a place you can go and relax! I've been gluten-free for 14 months now, and I have a couple places in town I can count on! We still don't eat out as often as we used to though!

Good luck and please let us know how you make out! I travel to Maine quite frequently! :)
