Buckwheat

Recommended Posts

After reading Bette Hagman's comments in one of her cookbooks and remembering several other things I've read, I've always steered clear of buckwheat flour.

What is the real scoop on buckwheat? Anyone know? Is it gluten-free?

Buckwheat is gluten free. It's not even related to wheat - it's an unfortunately named fruit, actually.

My friends and I are pretty sure that the white and pink flower you see in this picture is actually wild buckwheat (before it fruits).

It's gluten-free. It's not related to wheat, rye, or barley at all. I don't know why she didn't make that clearer in her revision.

And I thought it was related to the beetroot plant shows you that I'm no baker, but I do learn something new every day in this forum.
