Barley Malt

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am gluten-free since December 2002! B)

Although, while I had my stool test for celiac's I ate two products that contained gluten. One was my milk substitute drink that had barley malt and my carob bar also contained barley malt. My stool test showed positive for gluten sensitivity along with my gene test however, I didn't have intestinal damage.

I do eat gluten-free now but still wonder how and if I could eat small amounts of gluten such as barley malt.

I don't know this for sure but I think maybe if you are only sensitive...... maybe you could have a little bit now and again.

But if you are a Celiac, then No Way Jose! I don't know where one would draw the line, because it sems like anyone with an allergy or sensitivity is porbably just an undiagnosed celiac anyway, but only you can decide for yourself.

The question to ask yourself would be, do you have any reactions to the gluten, even in small amounts? And if the answer is yes, is the food you want worth your suffering?
