  1. We are all well-trained to talk to the kitchen staff if necessary to confirm the meal is properly prepared. It seems unlikely that an unknown worker in the unknown kitchen of an unknown chef in an unknown city(!) can successfully create an uncontaminated gluten-free meal. In this case the serving staff (flight attendants) are unable to contact the kitchen...
  2. Our daughter has severe celiac symptoms, so she knows when she's been glutened. Daiya products have been a staple of her diet as long as they've been available (remember the stretchy ones? Miss those.) They are dependably Gluten-free Casein-free safe.
  3. Request that your friends bring specific dishes, healthy foods like salads and veggie plates, everybody wins.

Somebody dropped the ball in the kitchen, either through contamination or actual wheat ingredients. The result was unfortunate. We do not forgive mistakes, as they are most likely occur where they...
  7. Besides some good Whole Foods stores, San Jose now has another gluten-free resource: The Beehive Open Original Shared Link. They have a good selection of snacks and baking ingredients, including Glutino, Bob's Red Mill, Gluten Free Pantry and Kinnikinick. Plus, there's Ener-G donuts and pizza crust in the freezer. We haven't mail ordered from Gluten Free...
  8. My pleasure. Ask for the manager, Scott Lin.
  9. We recently had a pleasant gluten-free restaurant experience I wanted to share with the list. Mandarin Gourmet (5560 Santa Teresa Blvd San Jose, CA 95123, near the intersection of Highways 85 & 87, phone 408-281-8898) has now served us gluten-free meals on three occasions. We walked in with the Chinese language Gluten Intolerance card printed...
