  1. going to try homemade pizza tonight. I got some Bob's pizza crust mix and a new baking stone.
  2. Does anyone have a tried and true gluten-free sugar cookie recipe? I had one that used sour cream in the past (gluten version) but I can't find it anywhere. I want to make some cut-out cookies for Christmas. I'll make the cookies and cut them out and then freeze them until closer to Christmas when I will bake them.
  3. Pizza is hard...I just posted on the cooking board about a thin crust pizza with Bob's Red Mill that was pretty good though.
  4. For Pizza, I had a pretty good pizza the other week. It was thin crust so you have to like that, but it was Bob's Red Mill crust mix. It was spread thin, baked on a cooking stone. It tasted just like "real" pizza if you like thin crusts. Pre-bake the crust and then top and warm again. I think she said the recipe made 2 pizzas but thin like this you can...
  5. I miss most of the junk food I ate, donuts, caramel rolls, that kind of thing. We used to have donuts on Sunday morning. It was something my parents did when we were young and we just continued that. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about our annual Christmas tradition of caramel rolls while opening gifts. I REALLY miss just being able to stop anywhere...
  6. False positives and negatives are rare, contrary to other's assumptions 1-3% of the time: Open Original Shared Link The false readings often come in when you have low IgA or IgG levels or haven't eaten gluten while testing from what the U of Chicago website says.
  7. That is a deal!!! Prime rib was on sale at my store yesterday. I don't normally buy it this early but it was too good to pass up!!
  8. We were just at a Christmas party--they have these amazing sugar cookies there every year...I really wanted one!! and donuts, I miss donuts!
  9. A week seems like a long time for a delay but maybe. It could be a virus or something too. I know we automatically go to gluten when we don't feel well but we still get sick from germs. Fevers are not a common symptom which makes me wonder if you are just coming down with something. Flu season is here, and they are saying it's going to be a bad one because...
  10. Has your thyroid been tested?
  11. The recipe was basically the same, but called for butter vs using Crisco shortening like he normally does. I am not a fan of cookies made with butter--just too gummy and greasy. My friend that mixed the flours for me said she uses her normal recipes and adds Xantan Gum appropriately. I've had her baking and they are fine.
  12. With numbers like that I would skip the endoscopy and just go gluten-free but there are people that don't think you are Celiac without the scope even with sky high numbers like that. If you were at 11 and 12, ok, but being close to 200, no question you are Celiac. Having said that, if it matters, it's a good excuse to continue to eat your favorites over...
  13. Finally got the "I can't believe it's gluten-free" cookbook. Hubs made the peanut butter cookies in the recipe. He made them with butter so they are pretty flat and gooy but at least they aren't like eating sand. They taste fine. I have a flour mix that a friend put together for me (she has been gluten-free for several years). I want him to use his regular...
  14. I agree, your acupuncturist really did you a big disservice by not getting your testing done before you went gluten-free. Also, your symptoms are not gone because you are really not gluten-free. Which IgG test did they run? If that is the Tt IgG then the 33 is a positive. Did the GI know you were basically gluten-free when they ran their tests? I...
  15. I would wait to see the numbers before you really decide if you are positive or not. "Mid to high" what?? If they were a 3 out of 4, ok, but if they were 8 or 9 with 0-4 being negative, 5-9 weak positive, 10+ being positive, I would say that you are positive given your symptoms and eating history. I'd call today and get an appointment with a GI that specializes...
  16. Unfortunately, being gluten-free for 3+ months is going to alter the outcome of his Celiac testing. The illnesses and greasy stools are something the look for with Cystic Fibrosis. There is a form of CF that is "adult onset"--which really means symptoms worsen to the point that adults seek treatment. I would also make sure they check for immune disorders...

    ARCHIVED Dh Please Help

Have a chocolate glazed donut for me
  18. Last time I had Salisbury Steak was when I was a kid and it was out of a Swanson's box in an aluminum tray LOL.
  19. Your children have a very high chance of being Celiac if both of you are Celiac. While it's not fun having Celiac, it's a lot easier if everyone in the house is gluten free. You should probably get appointments for them to get tested--and then cancel if you and your DH both come back negative. I think most of us have a relative that is at least gluten sensitive...
  20. Again, I know old post, but Mumps are going around the country so just be aware it could be that. I had a salivary stone in a gland and oh boy does that hurt! It was under my jaw to the right of my trachea. Try massaging the gland from your ear toward your trachea and see if you get saliva out-often with a funky metallic taste.
  21. Sugar causes inflammation in my belly LOL!! I hope you can find something more reasonably priced.
  22. Point is that the question was asked and answered and the OP kept trying to dismiss the answers....
  23. Right, but this is like asking if bananas are gluten-free....
  24. I got some of the whatever brand at Aldi--shelf stable. They have wheat and white for $3.99/loaf. It's pretty good and nice that it is not frozen!
  25. Where exactly in the process would Epsom salt come in contact with a gluten containing product???? Epson salt makes a wonderful lawn fertilizer too. Gives your grass that deep, deep green color .
