Should celiacs try hookworms?

I believe the answer to that question is an unequivocal yes.

Celiac.com Sponsor (A13):
Celiac disease is a debilitating condition that uncontrolled exacts a huge toll on people impacting both their health and their quality of life.

Controlled, by which I mean sufferers make serious effort to avoid gluten, celiac disease still lurks in the background waiting to act on diet missteps and likely contributes to the development of a variety of other health conditions.

Hookworms help with the primary expression of celiac disease where celiacs encounter gluten and also enhance the functioning immune system as a whole, reducing the impact of those other immune issues. In other words, life is better with hookworms whether the celiac decides to consume gluten or not.

Coming around to agree with my assessment would mean that you looked at the cost, convenience, likelihood of success and potential downsides and decided in sum that trying hookworms was worth the effort and risk. Or maybe you were simply tired of being celiac and wanted to take a flier. Perhaps you crave to have regular pizza again before you die.

Nowadays, it is possible to do enough research to know every angle before getting into hookworms. But as someone who has gone through the process and who has hookworms inside I say simply just go ahead and do it. You’ll learn as you go. All the support you would ever need is available from your provider, and the support group and the wiki, and the cost is minimal compared to a gluten-free diet.

You’ll never actually know if hookworms will help unless you try them. If they do, life could get a lot more fun.

As followers of this blog are aware I recently demonstrated that it took 30 days from larvae inoculation to recover my ability to consume gluten.

You, as a visitor to celiac.com, are obviously concerned enough about your celiac status to want to seek out information on how to deal with your condition. Well boys and girls, aside from going completely gluten-free, hookworms are numero uno in terms of your options.

You know there's a reasonable chance at success and hosting is no big deal. So what are you waiting for?
