Is It Possible To Not Have Enough Yeast In Our Gluten-Free Diets?

Recommended Posts

Something someone else posted about made me reconsider a thought that went through my mind not long after first going gluten free.

That is, if we are skipping most or all breads from out diets, are we apt to throw our digestive systems out of whack by not having enough yeast intake?

The internet is full of stories about people having yeast overgrowths, but I've never heard of anyone having too little yeast and yet I know yeast is a necessary component of a healthy digestive system.

I'm not having any problems as my gluten-free breads contain yeast and they do tempt me occasionally, but does anyone have any cautionary tales?

I have never heard that not eating yeast is an issue.  I rarely eat anything with yeast in it.  I think there are cultures that don't eat yeasty baked goods - at least traditionally.
