Breastfeeding and antibodies

Recommended Posts

I am not a fully diagnosed celiac. I am waiting on the biopsy still.

My question is do the antibodies pass through breast milk? Also, can gluten itself pass through breast milk?

My little guy is 10 months old and is being referred to a GI doc because he is having chronic diarrhea. I have noticed that when I am having issues from what I am eating, he is having his issues as well. one of the times it actually resulted in him passing blood and staying in the hospital overnight.

How likely is it that my issues are causing his issues? Or maybe we have the same issue? Does anyone have any insight or thoughts?

Yes gluten passes into breast milk. Your baby could be having issues with gluten or your antibodies. My baby spits up and gets gas if I have been contaminated. My 2 year old is also a diagnosed celiac. So I am thinking baby will have to be watched carefully as he shows reactivity to.
