Blood Pressure Going Up On Gluten Free Diet

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've been on a gluten free diet now going on 10 weeks and lately when I check my blood pressure at home it's been going up.I don't know if it's coincidental or not or maybe I'm absorbing more salt from my food.I'm beginning to wonder .... I'm gaining in health one way and losing the other way.

Off the diet you can get cancer, on the diet your cholesterol goes up and incresaes your odds of having a heart attack.

Are you eating a lot of gluten-free junk food? Most gluten-free replacement foods are much higher in simple carbs and sugars than the gluteny foods being replaced. Also, do you get enough vitamins C, E and D? Those are important for regulating blood pressure, as are omega 3 fatty acids.

Eat apples, they are known to lower blood pressure (even smelling an apple will do that).
