DH and I were driving home from church today and looking at all the hay rolls. Made me wonder how safe hay rides are. Is this something my girls and I should avoid?

They should be fine unless you eat the hay. However, I get itchy and rashy from hay.

Yup, Hay = dried grass. You'll be fine... unless you're allergic to grass!! :P:D

Not here, dd went in hay maze and climbed all over the hay bales Halloween 2 years ago, came home with hay sticking out of her pockets and pants cuffs, complaining of a stomachache and vomitted all night long. Going over her food that day, there was NO way it was food. I called the farm she was at and they indeed used wheat bales--we are (were) in wheat country... I called her gastro and he said "Yep, it's possible" We haven't done it since. She was inhaling and thus ingesting the dust.

I get itchy and a rash when I'm near hay as well.

I wouldn't rule out "hay rides"

Hay is from grass

Straw normally is from wheat.....

And since wheat is currently being harvested off basically my back lawn this week, I am closed inside... windows sealed.... shut A/C turned on and I am barracaded in my office....

I was hoping this wasn't going to bother me BUT I was wrong, the good news however is its acting more like a wheat allergy, stuffy runny nose.... itchy eyes you know the routine so here I am until the move downwind again, lol

I would at least call the farm or wherever the hay is and ask them what they use. Then you can decide from there. It varies from place to place.

      Enlarged lymph nodes in neck and groin with celiac are not uncommon. They can take time to reduce even after going gluten-free. Monitoring is key.

      Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

      I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.
