Nuts With Honey

The other day I went to Central Market in Fort Worth, TX and bought myself a little baggie of honey coated cashews and another of sugar free chocolate almonds. Both where from the bulk department and I used a small spice bag to control my portions. I was mindful of getting only a little of the sugar free candy since eating to much can cause diarrhea. Anyway, I ate them that night. The next day at work I felt horrible. My stomach had a lot of pressure ("fullness"), i had gas, and always felt like I needed to use the bathroom (even though there was often no/little results when I tried :blink: ). My stomach was getting distended and I could even eat my lunch salad due to all the pressure.

I figured it was the sugar free candy, even though they have never given me any troubles in the past. I was sure that I had not eaten any gluten that day. So a few days later I went to Austin to visit my family. We were in Whole Foods at the nut bar (I really like nuts :) ) and on a whim I asked the server if any of the nuts had gluten (since they were all flavored). His was response was that all of the honey nuts had a wheat ingredient. It must have been the cashews! I'm really glad I asked the guy even though I thought it was a stupid question since we were just getting nuts. Well, now I know.

I think we've all had a similar experience - at least we learned something from it. I don't eat anything that doesn't have a label I can read, just in case.

      I have been looking for brands that are ready to make areas of time as I normally hear my oatmeal 1 min in microwave every morning. It appears buckwheat requires allot of cleaning soaking longer cook times. Any eat recipes have you tried. Also what's the reason if adding lemon juice to groats? Thanks

      @nancydrewandtheceliacclue, If I were you I would give up the bread tossing until everything is under control for a few months straight. Then try doing it again and see if symptoms return. If you just can't give it up, try wearing a good mask, tie your hair up tight, and take other steps to reduce the possibility of crumbs sticking to you and eventually ending up in your food. Attached below is a link to a nice graphic on what 10 mg would look like and I think it would be possible to ingest enough crumbs through the air. Also keep in mind that some people are reacting even at 10 mg per day.       I love buckwheat groats (or kasha). I also like to add peanut butter to it. There are a bunch of these alternatives but I also recommend amaranth. It's good with fruit and/or cinnamon.

      @nancydrewandtheceliacclue, if you had trouble breathing, I agree with Scott. That sounds like anaphylaxis.
