Soy Intolerance- Will It Ever Go Away?

I am gluten and casein free. Soy bothers me, but nowhere near as much as gluten and casein. It only causes stomach upset, rather than the brain fog and more systemic reactions I get from the other two. I seem to tolerate soy lecithin and soybean oil (which I am told do not contain the protein found in soy). It would be nice if my soy intolerance was temporary. Has anyone initially had a problem with the protein in soy, and then been able to tolerate it after a year or more on the strict gluten free diet? Thanks.

sorry to say that for me Soy (soya) was off limits and still is. I even had some in error a week or so back in a gluten free chocolate covered biscuit (I should have checked!). It certainly didn't agree with me!

I'm having problems at the moment with potential other foods which is an on going process but for me. Anyway I find if something is ruled out of my diet it stays out and the best thing to do is (unfortunately) to live with it.

Unfortunately, I do not think you ever outgrow a soy intolerance. I have an intolerance to soy, and so does my dad (still). So, odds are we will always have to remain soy free. Good news though, I have read many new articles preaching that the harm of consuming soy is far greater than it's benefits. Soy is actually pretty bad for your health...So, good news for us :)

I have been able to add milk back in but not soy. I fortunately can tolerate the lecithin but not the flour or oil. Everyone is different and you can perhaps try and add it back in after you are well healed. Your body will let you know.

Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?

Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
