Prometheus Lab Results

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I was wondering if I could ask your help in determining what the results of my genetic blood test mean. The lab that did the work is Prometheus. It reads as follows:

Alleles Detected: Homozygous DQB1*02 (DQA1*05-DQB1*0201 and DQA1*0201-DQB1*0202)

This test, as well as two others for IBS, were ordered by my GI doctor. Both IBS test results were negative. Unfortunately, I don't have a follow up appointment with my doctor until the end of the month and am hoping to learn a lot between now and then. This doctor told me he didn't believe I was at risk for celiac, hence the two IBS tests. Though I've begun reading about gluten intolerance, as well as beginning a gluten free diet, I can tell there's a lot to learn. I have two teenage children and am wondering if this could become an issue for them.

I would truly appreciate any thoughts, advice, comments, ideas, etc. Thanks so much.
