Stiff And Achy

I have been gluten free for over a year. I have had a few slip ups by CC and an intentional mess up (I dont have celiac...it's just IBS back in July with 3 doughnuts) I have no other food issues other than lactose intolerance. I eat dairy with lactaid tablets and lactaid milk. I eat a very strict gluten free diet and do not eat at restaurants.

I continue to be stiff and achy and very tired. Some days are better than others. Today is a pretty bad day.

Anyone else feel like this? Is this just a symptom of celiac?

Thanks! :)

I was having continual problems even after 2.5 years gluten-free. My doctor encouraged me to eliminate dairy, soy, and corn and reintroduce them one at a time. She's sure that I have a secondary intolerance. I went on an extreme elimination diet and haven't added any of those back yet, but I feel worlds better! I haven't had this much energy in years. Before the diet, I was sure that I had chronic fatigue syndrome - I slept away whole weekends. Now I don't need naps and can play with the kids without feeling exhausted anymore. My aches and pains are gone - and plenty of other bad symptoms, too. I'll try corn, soy, and dairy next May - after I've been on the diet for a year.

You don't have to be on a diet for a year, but you can try eliminating soy and corn for a few weeks and then reintroducing them one at a time. In addition to dairy, soy and corn are common co-intolerances for people who can't tolerate gluten.

I know other people will have great suggestions, too.

Hope you feel better soon.

Right at the moment i'm thinking the lactaid milk and tablets aren't working. I'd go off them for a couple of weeks to see if that is any help or are you eating a lot of nightshades? The nightshades cause those same problems with me too.

Mine is definitely triggered by inflammation and stress! I do also have arthritis in my spine, but the pain is more in my pelvic area. Im sure i have other food intolerances or other autoimmune isues but the more I focus on it and see doctor after doctor, it just gets worse.  Best thing is get of Gluten! (I also avoid lactose). Try to limit stress and anything that causes inflammation in your body.

Good morning,   I got an email about replies to this post. Some of my doctors had blamed a slipped disc for the pain I had and that contributes, but after meeting with a gastroenterologist AGAIN and trying some lifestyle modifications, I found out I have IBS and can't tolerate corn or excessive fructose to any degree. Cutting out corn AFTER having cut out all gluten containing products was a real pain but I feel much better now!

So, I contacted Scott Adams, the author of that article and also the creator/admin of this website, and pointed out to him the need to clarify the information in the paragraph in question. He has now updated the paragraph and it is clear that the DGP-IGA does serve the purpose of circumventing the false negatives that IGA deficiencies can generate in the tTG-IGA antibody test.

Has anyone experimenced enlarged lymph nodes with celiac? Both in the neck and groin area. Imaging of both areas have said that lymph nodes are reactive in nature. However, they have been present for months and just wondering how long this may take to go down. Been gluten-free for about two months. Blood counts are normal.
