My Sister Thinks I Just Have Anxiety

I posted earlier about alot of my symptoms, but there is one that I didn't connect to Celiac. For a few months now, at least once or twice a week, I wake up thinking somebody is shaking my bed. I wake up, look around, thinking my husband is shaking the bed. He's sound a sleep and I realize that I am shaking. It isn't my body, but it's like inside my head. I know it sounds nuts...That's why I haven't told anyone, I never had a seizure, but it almost feels like that's what it could be. My sister now thinks all my problems (degestive, and many others) are nothing more than anxiety (I still don't think so). Maybe they are, I will find out what my results are soon. Thanks for listening...

I used to think the bed was being rocked. I found it pretty scarey but it hasn't happened in years now. I have no idea what caused it but suspect it was one of the neuro effects.

Are you done with testing, both blood and if you have chosen biopsy? If you are then go ahead and start the diet. You don't need to wait on the results as there is a high rate of false negatives so you need to do a trial of the diet no matter what the results. A lot of us have heard from doctors and family that our issues are anxiety or depression related. Don't worry about what someone else is saying just give the diet a shot when your done testing.

I am having the blood test done. I stopped eating gluten yesterday after my blood was drawn. It happened again last night, so I am hoping that it will stop with not eating gluten. Do I need to be eating gluten to have a biopsy done? My allergist did tell me even if the tests are negative to give the gluten free a chance.

Yes, if you are going to have a possible biopsy, you do need to continue with gluten until after it is done. Then you can stop immediately.

I think the biopsy is barbaric and archaic. There are blood tests and spit tests out there that can tell you what you need to know without the invasive procedure.

And beyond all that the absolute best test is to go gluten-free for one month and see how you feel.

As for the mysterious bed shakings I had those too. They were infrequent but they did happen. I always just thought they were spirits messing with me. :P But you know...could have been the gluten...wouldn't surprise me one iota.

Good luck on your journey, we are here for you if you need help and congratulations on feeling better soon. ;)

Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?
    • mishyj
Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
