Getting Symptoms Under Control

Does anyone have any good recommendations, other than cutting gluten out obviously, for cutting down the symptoms once you get "glutoned"? I'm going gluten free, working on my first week, and obviously still learning the ropes. Was just wondering if anyone had any good ideas to get symptoms under control quickly when they do appear?

Lots of liquids and rest seems to be the general consensus. I find that I need to eat a really bland diet (like white rice, broth, applesauce, maybe some cooked carrots or an egg) for a few days if it's bad.
